Otherworldly Experiences

What kind of awesome, fun, creepy, or even frightening experiences have you had? If you haven't had any, do you wish you would?

This is the one that stuck in my mind...being raised Roman Catholic, I wasn't really used to such a, uh, blunt and quick response!

I think my fellow Wiccans will appreciate this one...

I was practicing Wicca with my favorite Wiccan book and I did a general "This is what I need, can ya help me get it' spell...I asked for the Goddess to help me get more sleep, since I've been ridiculously fatigued lately.

And, you know, I'm sitting here expecting to have to relax a while, open my mind, wait for a hint of some idea or another, but all of a sudden, WHAM! as loud and clear as though She was shouting in my mind...

...the Goddess chastised me for procrastinating on my homework, told me to blow out the damn candles, do a quick devocation, and get my damn homework done so I could get to bed.

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

So here I am, doing my homework while I write this very quickly *glances around furtively and prepares to dodge a lightning bolt*

It's helpful to have a God/Goddess who doesn't mind giving you a slap-in-the-face answer when you need one

*is still chuckling*

Oh man. I've got a few, and am hoping to add more to the list as paranormal investigation is something I find very interesting. I'll start with just one of my stories and let other people post before I put more up.

This is from high school in Prior Lake, MN. Our high school theatre has long been rumored to be haunted. Some people say that they've heard footsteps on the stage when working alone late at night, others have reported hearing a phantom flute being played be someone who isn't there. My experience took place on the catwalk, and there were young students doing a workshop down on stage. I went up to hang some lights and made several trips carrying things up. On my last trip I had to walk halfway down to the other end of the catwalk (it dead ends into a brick wall). As I set the light down and looked up I saw a dull red orb floating in the air. I was pretty much frozen in my spot, this being my first time seeing a spirit and all. After what seemed like forever it got brighter and came towards me at a pretty good clip. I high tailed it across the catwalk and down a steep, but short flight of stairs to the prop loft. As I said earlier we were running an elementary school workshop so I stood their trying to collect myself. As soon as I had a handle I walked up to the catwalk, nothing there.

I've had one very spiritual experience (that dealt with the fae folk) and a few creepy experiences (which I can only assume was due to ghosts).

The creepy experiences first:
Well to state right off the bat, I am petrified (sp?) of ghosts! lol. It's one of my greatest fears (that and being alone- which kinda go hand in hand). There is definately something in my house. I dont know if this is a ghost or some other kind of spirit/astral being, but its definately there. And there is also one in the garage, and I just *know* that they are two seperate entities, how I know this I couldnt tell ya, I just *know*. Well anywho... I started *sensing* these energies in the house after about 6 months of living here (I've now lived here for about 2 1/2 years). I've had a few small experiences that made me even more sure about it, but probably the creepiest experience was on a solar or lunar eclipse (I really cant remember which one- oh and btw I didnt even know it was an eclipse until after this happened). Well anyways... I was alone in the house *shudders* doing the dishes and the laundry (which means I have to go in the garage alone... *shudders again*). I went out to switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer and when I walked into the garage the washer door was wide open, and I KNOW I closed it... the machine was half way done, so I know I didnt forget to close the door.... needless to say that scared the bejeebies outa me! lol. I slammed the door to the washer and ran in the house (didnt go back in until hubby got home lol). But that wasnt even the worst part... I went back in and started doing the dishes. I started putting away a few of the dishes, closed the ONE cabinet I had open and went back to wash the rest of the dishes. Not 5 seconds later I (for some odd reason) turned around and ALL of the cabinets behind me were open!!!! I am totally serious... yeah I know it sounds like something out of a movie, but it wasnt, it REALLY happened! I get goosebumps thinking about it! lol.

OK, the spiritual and enlightening experience now:
I was about 18 (maybe 17) and I was visiting my best friend, Jim in Northern California. Jim was an old druid who lived in the middle of the woods in Mendocino County. Going to his house was always a wonderful experience. (as a short little insert here, Jim passed away on Samhain 2004 at the age of 60) Well anywho, I was sitting on his porch one night drinking hot cocoa and looking up at the stars and the wood-sie mountain across from his house (there was a faery mound there and at night you could see the faery lights dancing around through the trees... and no, they were not fireflies... its hard to explain them, but they are definately NOT of this realm. If you have seen them before, you would know what I mean.) when all of a sudden this glowing white creature floated in front of me (about 2 1/2 feet away) that looked like this HUGE dragonfly (it was about 1 1/2 to 2 feet in hieght) with humanistic features. It floated there for about 5 or 6 seconds (which seemed like an eternity) and then disappeared. At first I was rather frightened (remember my fear of ghosts? lol), so I calmly stood up and walked into the house... I apparently had a somewhat pale look on my face. I know this because Jim could tell that something had just happened to me. He asked me what happened and all I could say was "I have no idea". I sat down and let it sink in for a second and realized what I had just seen. I drew a picture of it on the computer and showed it to Jim. "This is what happened to me. This is what I just saw." Is what I said as I handed him the picture (after printing it). He took one look at it and said, very nonchalauntly, "Oh yeah, thats a wood sprite, I see 'em all the time." WOW. Since then I had never seen any more faeries or even faery lights when I visited Jim. Maybe that is all I was intended to see... but it was enough for me to confirm that faeries do indeed exist. I dont care what others say, I KNOW they exist.

Alright, well I have definately said enough! LOL!

I can see how that first one would be pretty freaky. And the second one sounds really cool! :) As I said I'm a huge fan of exploring the paranormal and I can only imagine seeing something so definite so close up.

Excuse my ignorance Niam, but what does Samhain 2004 mean? Is that a holiday or special day of some sort?

When I was about 29, I had a spooky experience. I had been in bed for about 10 minutes and all of a sudden my skin started to crawl and it felt as if something incredibly evil was in the room with me. I remember being so terrified and pulling the covers up until I was cocooned in the blankets with just enough space to see. Like a bad horror movie, I just kept whispering "please go away, please go away" over and over. Then, the hall light turned on and then a few seconds later, turned off. It did this twice more before staying off. Then a few seconds later, the sensation of evil was gone. The whole experience didn't last more than 5 minutes.

I've never had a similar experience before or after and I hope I never do again. It's been 20 years and I can still remember how terrified I was. I have absolutely no curiousity to know what was in that room with me either.

Spring 2003, my son (was 6) and I were out in the yard. "Mom, look, I found a lucky clover!"

I explained to him that it had to be a four leaf clover, that's what made it lucky, they were rare and hard to find. For the rest of the day I saw him on his knees is the clover patches looking for that four leaf clover.

The next day when I saw him at it again, I went out to join him. We could not find a four leaf clover and Andrew started doubting that I knew what I was talking about. (he does that a lot). Any way, I asked God to please send me a four leaf clover so I could share this miracle of nature with Andrew.

Later that night I was in a religious debate and I grabbed one of my bibles to back up my arguement. It was a KJV my grandmother gave me back in 1972. I have opened that book hundreds of times, but this time when I thumbed through the book, a four leaf clover fell out onto my lap.

I have had people say that my grandmother probably put it there. But why did in appear then, after I asked God? And not any of the hundreds of other times?

It was a miracle. And God DID give me a four leaf clover.

Niamh- with an "h" lol. Sorry, I get a little picky about that... my name is pronounced "NEE-av", with the "mh" making a "v" sound (Its an Irish name...). hehe

Samhain "Sow-en" or "Sov-en" (again the "mh" sound in Irish... sometimes it makes a "w" sound and sometimes a "v" sound. When saying my name I use the "v", but when saying Samhain, I say it as "w") is a Celtic sabbat (holiday) and it is also known as Halloween. Here is a site that will tell you more about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samhain
What I meant when I said that Jim died Samhain 2004 was that he died on or around October 31, 2004. (no one knows the exact date of his death as he lived alone in the middle of the forest... his body was found about a week after he died- so says the coroner... and that would make it on or around the 31st- I celebrate Samhain as the time of his death, which is kinda fitting)

I hope I have answered your question :)

WOW!! What a beautiful story! I believe that it was your grandmother who gave that to you, maybe she heard your request and granted it for you or maybe she acted as an intermediary for your God. hmm we may never know... but that is just one of the cutest stories I have ever heard!

Well, lets see. :D Which one of the hundreds would you like? :D One of my first "odd" experiences I had with the spirits was back in middle school. I used to practice martial arts in my basement, where I had 4 full length mirrors. While I was practicing one night, I ended up looking in the mirror to check out my stance position, and didn't see myself. Instead I saw my wolf spirit guides as myself. That is when I first new that there was something odd about myself, not just the fact that I could see things others couldn't, but that I was something other's weren't.

The latest odd thing that has happened was last week. My computer crashed, and I wasn't able to get anything off of it except what would fit on a floppy. Well, music files are way too big to fit on floppies. Well, after I hooked up my new computer (completely brand new), I found a folder called music on the C drive that was full of music from my old computer. :D But these stories are only 2 of the many stories I could tell. Since I'm constantly in the spirit world, I have a story for every day, hour, minute, etc...

And just the beginning. :D It was nothing compared to my 16th birthday. But it takes me so long to type that out, and I've already done it a few times on here. So tomorrow I'll try to find one I already wrote, and paste it into this thread.

A few people have said that they had experiences with Spirits that made them feel uncomfortible . I have also . But I am wondering if anyone here has ever had them do anything to harm them in any way ?

The reason I ask is because we all have heard stories of things being thrown , cuts and burns , etc . But it has been my experience that although these Spirits may wish harm , they tend to be powerless to cause it . Like a caged animal or something such thing . Full of rage , but unable to let it .

The first time I encount this , I was trying to contact a Spirit , and I got the impression that Spirit felt that I was asking too much of it , or something . { I was asking for a name }.

I have only had a few encounters with spirits who were violent. But it was because they were confined in a wierd, unknown place. And they got scared, and their fear turned into violence. Like a dog being backed up into a corner. The spirits (in my experience) don't really like to be asked too much of. They feel its disrespectful. So that is probably what you experienced as well.

That is kinda what I felt in that case MV . :) Man , did I get it pissed . But I'm kinda wondering if anyone here has ever actually been physically harm by any of these " ghost " , Spirits , or whatever ?

There is also the matter of many being very alien to us , and that alone causes discomfort . But unease is not harm really . :)

I believe I've mentioned before what happened when one night, I dreamt that I was fighting with a group of men. (using a gorgeous sword - I can see it still!) It was recurring - I kept going there (it was a cave) until all of them were dead.

Anyway, I always woke exhausted, as though I had been truly fighting, and had scratches and bruises from where they had either cut me or I had stumbled into rocks, thorns, etc. I still don't know who those people were, and I'm not sure I want to know....

I'm not sure if that counts, but it was definitely otherworldly.

Prima , I'm not sure if that was in reply to my question or not ? But assuming that it was , as you were physically harmed , I think that dreams are a little different then what I was wondering about . In a dream , the subconsious is in control , and that can lead to all kinds of things . From harming one's self by thrashing around , to manifesting wounds . { I can get very ... active in dreams ;) }

The same holds true if one is in a trance or on a shamanic journey , I would think . What I am wondering about is the fear we often feel for those encounters we have on the physical world . I have a theory that we can go " there " and then anything could happen , but I really don't think that they can come " here " and do any harm at all . But that is just a theory . :) And I can only base that on personal experience , and imagination . { I made imagination because I have no experience where any harm has happened that I hadn't allowed , if that makes sense ? But I assume that it could . }
