Ouija boards

Three of my friends and I plan to hang out soon. We asked each other what games we should play. Two are Catholic, one is Latter Day Saint with Buddhist culture (not western oriented), and just me.

So friend Bob (LDS) suggests we bring a ouija board. I say, cool. The other two said no. They said the board is used for evil purposes.

I asked my bus driver whose a evangalistic pastor from Africa. He says that spirits are in objects and the board ouija is the spirit of satan. It wasnt "just" the purpose of the board; thats understandable. No, they all said the Board itself is possessed.

Now, Im an animist. I know spirits can inhabit objects. I also know it depends on the association that object has with the person or spirit.

QUESTION: If there is no association (no one own the board) and we bought it from toys r us, how is the board itself evil?

Im looking for answers from abrahamic faiths and those who believe that ouija board is evil for whatever reason.

Carlita,

I would suggest consulting with your friends on finding some activity that would be more acceptable to them.

As Baha'is we don't use Ouija boards... or consult mediums...or use astrology. We feel they are mostly just subjective activities and based on fantasies... there are likely many social activities that could be more wholesome and that would be acceptable to your friends...

Generally, people don't think the board itself is evil or harbors anything evil. But many people (myself included) think that multiple people focusing their psychic energies together can invite a spirit to feed on the energy. It seems like it shouldn't work and any activity should just be people's imaginations and their subconscious but from people I know and stories I've heard I do believe genuine paranormal things sometimes occur. I think the people in the game matter and some people have more psychic energy than others for entities to use.

There seems to be almost unanimous opinion by people familiar with the spiritual world that lowest level spirits may try to attach to the energy of vulnerable people and that for this reason the board should never be used.

True, I agree. It was interesting when I asked the driver if it is the board itself. He said without anyone using the board, in itself, it posses evil spirits. I personay believe negative spirits can be used by anything, its the people and how they use the object rather than what object they use is important.

I also think that toys r us ouija boards, unless someone sends a spirit into it, is just card board. We could play jacks on it. My friend said, why dont we paint it first.

Something about the object itself is seen as wrong. What confuses me is if I dont tell someone the ouija board and i colored to make like a chess board, nothing will happen; they wouldnt know.

I just find it weird that they believe the board itself is spirit possessed. I had one friend use a stick to push the board away from her when we were young. It made me wonder if the board someone how magic powers to attack her

I don't think evil spirits are in Ouija boards or that a board itself is possessed, but I do believe demonic spirits will use objects to contact or influence humans who are looking for answers from the supernatural realm apart from God . Basically a Ouija board is just one of many tools some people use knowingly or unknowingly which channel demons who are adept at giving answers that will impress the person asking questions.

I understand. You can dont that with any object. What makes ouija boards special?

Back when I believed, the idea of making the spiritual realm into a cheap-thrills parlor game with a price tag attached didn't settle well with me.
Only maybe two or three weeks ago someone asked me if I have ever played around with one, and upon hearing that I haven't, I was told about "all the fun I'm missing out on."

It's evil because people say so, and there has to be a reason. Because spirits are watching you all the time. Don't be stubborn and get rid of those things..... Unless you want evil spirits, demons and the devil to attach to you,,, Dabbling with the occults may lead to disasters and even hearing voices. bipolar, schizo...... things you still do not know now.

The board isn't the Occult. You can use a pencil and still get the same results as you would a Oujia board. That's what I didn't understand, though. The board being evil thereby the possession of it as evil. Rather than just the act of using it (or anything else) to invite spirits that may or may not be invited.

It sounds superstitious especially when the board comes from a kids store. I'd be a little funny if I got it overseas, though.

It's just a silly board game.

But if anyone believes it harbors evil within it, those people should probably not participate. Belief has a powerful influence on what people can experience as a result of taking part in activities believed to be evil.

I, myself, harbor old superstitions about it that won't bloody go away, and so wouldn't participate in it.

The board itself is just an inanimate object. There might be some association, vaguely, with the actions taken place on the board, however the board itself is not inherently evil. If one used the board, certain.....entities... shall we say, may associate themselves with that board. So, if one has used a board, and they felt evil, etc., or just want to stop using it, just get rid of it, no ceremony required.

My wife didn't actually have a ouija board from Toys-r-us when she was bothered by a demon. She used paper to produce reprentations of the letters etc. It was the process of seeking an answer that gave her more than she bargained for.

Maybe I should get one so I can practice moving it and really mess with people.

I had a friend who wanted me to participate but I didn't believe one could get answers from a game so I moved the board to the answers I thought were appropriate. Unfortunately they figured out I was doing that and it became fruitless to proceed further.

Here is what you do. Light six sets of six candles and put them in a circle around you and your friends with the Ouija at the center. Then prick a single bit of blood from each of you and smear it around the oujia board. Make sure to start the ouja session by asking if any demons are around and then go back and forth between the "Z" and the "O" while chanting "Zozo" over and over. Do this six times. Then watch as nothing happens.

And I am not suggesting drug usage but if you really wanted a trip do it while doing acid or shrooms
