Our Most Important Space Program

Getting the rocks was a great a achievement and probably a important one. However it did not tell us anything about how our solar system was formed. Even if it did, how does that help mankind today. If continued space flight did help solve some of mankind's problems it would be worth the money, but it doesn't.

There has never been a day since Adam and Eve ate the fig, that there has been peace on earth.

Chemistry says moon is proto-Earth’s mantle, relocated
Data confirm model in which impact pulverizes Earth like a sledgehammer hitting a watermelon

"Wang and Jacobsen now report isotopic differences between lunar and terrestrial rocks that provide the first experimental evidence that can discriminate between the two leading models for the moon’s origin. In one model, a low-energy impact leaves the proto-Earth and moon shrouded in a silicate atmosphere; in the other, a much more violent impact vaporizes the impactor and most of the proto-Earth, expanding to form an enormous superfluid disk out of which the moon eventually crystallizes.

The isotopic study, which supports the high-energy model, was published Sept. 12 in the advance online edition of Nature. “Our results provide the first hard evidence that the impact really did (largely) vaporize Earth,” said Wang, assistant professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences in Arts & Sciences."

Just another random act of planets and moons and even stars impacting each other all over the universe every day.

Overview of ISS Research Benefits to Human Health
The International Space Station is a unique laboratory for performing investigations that affect human health both in space and on Earth. Throughout its assembly, the space station has supported research that is providing a better understanding of certain aspects of human health, such as aging, trauma, disease and the environment. Several biological and human physiological investigations have yielded important results, including improved understanding of basic physiological processes normally masked by gravity and development of new medical technology and protocols driven by the need to support astronaut health. Advances in telemedicine, disease models, psychological stress response systems, nutrition, cell behavior and environmental health are just a few examples of benefits that have been gained from the unique space station microgravity environment.

NASA supplies extremely important deep space research and other important science the private sector would not fund or make money on, so it's really important to have both work with each other. NASA over the years has done very well with a small budget.

Once upon a time....and they lied happily ever after, Nothing in your post has been scientifically proved.

You dishonor so many great people it's really astounding.

I said what they did was important and probably necessary. How is that dishonoring them? My objection is not what they did, it is what is the value of continuing to do it? The monies spent on the space programs could be better spent reducing our national debt. Even if all said in your post was true, it wouldn't make a nickels worth of difference in the lives of Americans.
