God's Amusement.

Of course, if you have evidence of some other reason please share.

That's what I've believe for quite some time now. Being almighty. things must get pretty boring.

This picture is inaccurate. The ants will be able to see the human (god), the grass (universe), and could travel to the gravel in the background.

Scale is terrible..

From a non-dualist (God and creation are not-two) perspective the cartoon does not make sense. God is in the ants.

Yes - if God is "perfect" why would he bother creating a universe and people ... you can't add 2 perfection ...

What do you think non-dual thought is saying?

I'm not asking if you agree or believe in it; but do you understand what it is saying.

(Seriously, Why do you post this stuff in the 'General Religious Debates' forum when you don't really want to debate?)

Our "purpose" is what we make it out to be, so I don't think there's likely any intrinsic "purpose" outside of our own mind's opinion.

Seriously, what is it you wanted to debate? My OP is asking about our purpose on earth, strongly premised on the assumption that we were deliberately put here. If you see some other reason other than the one I put forward: god's amusement, then please share

That you apparently see god and creation as one and the same pretty much excludes any answer you might have as relevant, although I am willing to listen. However, your non-dualistic character of god and creation doesn't seem top leave much room for it. Lastly, I really have no interest in debating this dual/non/dual aspect of god and creation. I suggest you create a new thread for it.

Interesting. But are you saying that we consciously make this determination: "My purpose on earth is . . . . ." even though we probably don't even think of such matters until we get past our childhood?

To varying degrees since we're not all "built" the same. Some spend a great deal of time trying to deal with the meaning and purpose of life whereas some others don't. Some people don't much get into theology or philosophy whereas some others do.
