I don't think I would even consider 'ashram life'. Too regimented. Food, too sattvic. But I understand it cannot be like a hotel.
However, food at Hare-Krishna, Juhu Beach, Mumbai was not like that. They use their large terrace as community eating area. It was a delight to see people from all over India at one place. Not all Hare-Krishnas, but surely with love of Lord Krishna in their heart. But that is not an 'ashram'.
