Paradoxes involving IQ

@sayak83 - I can't speak for everyone, but I'd say Malcolm in the Middle may have got some things right involving the life of a high IQ person, but also got many things wrong.

One example where I think they got it wrong, is depicting Malcolm as someone who integrates well with his brothers. It's like they actually need him, despite him causing the occasional problem himself.

I think a more accurate picture would have Reese and Dewey not wanting much to do with Malcolm, and Malcolm spending a lot more time reading and alone. Though, he might still have a friend in terms of Stevey, though.

This would make for a much more boring story, but I think the show Malcolm in the Middle depicts his life as being a bit too 'normal' to be very accurate. Despite the show playing up the really dysfunctional parents.

Yes. I know that Malcolm in the Middle is not really depicting reality anymore than Big Bang Theory is reality about scientists in colleges. I came across the idea of schools separating students based on iq tests by watching it....its not there in Indian schools.

As a single child...I remember preferring to read and be left to myself. Indian city kids do not have much of an opportunity to do outdoor adventure team activities (camping, hiking etc.). Those things I would have liked as I always enjoyed nature and hated the city with its noise and crowds and constricted horizons.

Yeah. I've been thinking about this more, because I'm not sure what's actually worse - Malcolm in the Middle, where they have terrible solutions to high IQ people, or what I experienced - where they have no real solutions, but want to have a conversation about possible solutions anyway, including questions like asking the parents whether they'd be okay with fast-tracking the kid to college.

Here's my paradox of intelligence: the sooner you work out that you're an idiot the smarter you are.

If I think ugly things about myself, then I won't hold myself to a high standard. If I don't hold myself to a high standard, I'll be prone to be hesitant to take much of any action in life.

Though, if I don't take actions, there's no failure.

So it makes me wonder if it's the 'failure' part that makes people seem dumb.

People who work, make errors.
People who work much, make many errors.
People who don't make errors, get promoted.

Peter's principle, 1st correlate.
