Parallel Universes - Yes or No?

Its an interesting concept but we are more than just light years away from finding out if its true.

If there is infinity, which there clearly is, then one universe is not all there is, being bounded by what it is called and the conceptualisms this includes. Go figure.

I don't believe in parallel universes. My instinct just tells me that it is a sheer waste of energy.

For example, in this world, I get shot in the heart, and die. If parallel universes exist, there is another world in which I did not die, another world in which I was not shot, another world in which I was shot in the head, another world in which I was shot in the heart but 1 mm to the left, another world in which I was shot in the heart but 1.1111 m to the left, and it continues forever. For any slightest action (e.g. moving a finger), there is an infinite number of universes in which I moved the finger slightly differently. And each universe carries its history, its future, and diversifies into yet another universes infinitely.

It is a sheer waste of energy. I believe nature is more efficient than that.

In a metaphorical sense, yes.

In actuality (of the idea that I suppose is being presented) , no.

We are as close as we'll ever be to finding that out; we don't need collider experiments to know that there exists only one singular dimension which has often been termed & confused as "The Universe" ( because of course there is the "known" universe", then the idea of the Universe in the infinite and existential sense ) ; all we need is to form solid philosophical tenets to understand that there are no dimensions over-lapping ours.

In the most basic sense we can refine the elements of the universe down into the most basic form; that being matter - anything else that can be or has been defined ( space, energy, time, etc. ) is merely a component of one singular dimension in which everything resides, where properties like space and time aren't actually real.

I don't think that there are parallel universes in the sense that every choice I make spawns a new version of the universe. I don't think the universe itself considers me important enough for one. For two, just as Yoheisato said, if there is a new universe every time a particle goes left instead of right we'd have quite a lot of universes.

However, I do think that the big bang was not a unique event and that similar types of events must have happened or could happen (its always possible that this is the first one of many).

I don't understand how a universe can be 'wasting' its energy in any sense...

That's actually a good point. The universe doesn't care how energy is used it just does what it does based on the rules defined by... um... whatever defined them haha.

If that means an inconceivable number of universes, than that's exactly what it will have.

Ya, I'm still having trouble getting my mind around the concept. 'Wasteful energy usage' could be applied to most plant groups, as the C3 mode of photosynthesis is actual really wasteful. It just yields so much energy, plants can afford to waste that energy. The second law of thermodynamics might even suggest that the universe really isn't concerned with energy usage or anything.

To say nothing of typing in forums! Or Jazzercise for that matter...

I guess if the universe was concerned with waste it would have just stayed a singularity.

Do you believe in them or not?

Sum of Awe,
Right now we have no way of knowing. If we have time in this system, men will probably find out.
Consider a few problems that the Bible mentions, about our limitations, because of lack of knowledge. Consider Job 26:14, where we are told some about the creation then told that we only know the FRINGES of God's ways. Notice too Job 37:5 where we are told that God is doing things that we cannot know. Consider Ecc 3:10,11, where God has put the idea of forever in man's heart, but we will never find out the things God made. Another scripture is revealing to me just how little man's knowledge is today, and even when we have forever to learn about God's works we will never be able to learn all that Jehovah God had made, Ecc 8:17.
A very telling scripture in the Christian Greek Scriptures is 1Cor 2:9, where we are told that The eye has not seen, and neither has man conceived in his heart the things that God has prepared for those that love Him.
So there could be all kinds of wonderous things that are in store for man to search for and discover, for throughout all eternity we will never find all the things that God has created. We will never be bored, for as endless time of searching for interesting things await us, who love God and His son, Jesus.

When you look at the nature in general, things are run quite efficiently. At least, that's how I understand the biology. Imagine the amount of energy needed to run one universe. And a semi-infinite number of universes need to be made when I just move a finger. I tend to feel (no logical reasoning here, but merely feeling) that the nature would be more efficient than that.

Also, if there is an universe for any version of a certain action, logically speaking, wouldn't there be an universe where parallel universes don't exist? So, isn't the concept of parallel universes self-evidently illogical?

When I'm smoking weed my answer is yes, when I'm not smoking weed my answer is, who the heck thinks up this stuff. Lol

Nope Nope Nope Nope.......wait a minute yes I do :D .
That universe is yourself. We are all souls and souls belong in a universe and as do the heavens and the hells. But saying that another universe exist that is polar to our universe would be likely under much rationality especially Dharmic theology. Shiva for example is the great destroyer and has his many forms and look upon the Shakti sects who place Durga and Chhinnamasta (self decapitating goddess) with the forms of Shakti. The divine mother who is all knowing and all loving is beyond evil and physically embodies hell it self also. So a universe that consist of our opposites is quite likely but it wouldnt be the universe itself it would be our souls and spirit I would say.

My polar opposite would be a loving guy who wished of nothing but to help others and be a good person. I would strive to find peace on this earth and unity with my understanding of others.
As my normal self right here is a sadistic evil person who has no emotions or empathy towards humanity. I dislike other people lives and existences and wish of nothing but for them to suffer for my amusement.

:beach: life is gooooooood
