Pelosi violated the Logan Act and committed a felony

Mathematician

Reason, and reason again
Right... how is that any different from what has been said all along? The whole point is that Pelosi and the other congresspeople were there attempting to meddle is Executive branch duties... what legislative duty would you imagine they were performing?

Senators McGovern and Sparkman did the exact same thing Pelosi is *guilty* of.

Did Pelosi disclose exactly what she spoke to Bashar about? I think the people should be able to see a transcript of this discussion.

I'm not looking for hypocrisy. I'm pointing out the same discrepancy that several others are pointing out.

What discrepancy? Right is right and wrong is wrong and party lines change nothing.

The only reason we are focusing on Pelosi is because SHE is the topic of the thread.

Your straw argument is focused on the like's of, "all the other kid's are doing it ".

Congresspeople conduct foreign affairs all the time. If this is the only gripe her critics have, then I'm confused as to what kind of legal precedent they are basing their case on.

uh. nope. Bush is the head of the executive branch, he has the authority to conduct his diplomacy anyway he wants. It is literally impossible for Bush to violate the logan act while he is president.

I think you may be a little confused...

Whoa, easy there, Comprehend. No offense, but this reads like someone who is getting a little too attached to this discussion.

Just an FYI, there *are* restrictions on what Bush can do--restrictions that he has violated repeatedly.

of course they do, when given authority to conduct such business by the executive branch. this really isn't difficult to grasp...

eh... nice try. you didn't actually address my post. would you like to try again?

thanks.. I know... nice red herring. The post spoke to what Bush could do with regard to the Logan act. would you like to address that?

Comprehend. I'm not out to attack you, and I'm not out to attack Bush. I intend to learn about this Logan Law as you do, and to do that I have to test this case to see if it adds up as the OP claims that it does. If the defense cannot hold up--well, neither one of us can help that.

I'm confused. Where in the Logan Law does it specifically say that Bush has to sign off on every diplomatic trip that a Congressperson takes?

I know. I tried to suggest this a while ago.

that is in the constitution not the logan act. I provided a link to both in the OP...
