Anyone who claims to be a master,
makes themselves an apprentice
at another level.

If you see the Tao,
you see it in all things.

Otherwise, you see only the manifestations.

Can a dog or a tree
be infinitely more or less
insubstantial
than a car or chemical plant?

The Tao is simple.

Do what you will.

The Tao is.

if you've ever heard of or read the book 'the tao of pooh' then you would (like me) personify Winnie the Pooh with the tao. basically because he just goes with the flow, and if things dont go as he plans he keeps on being happy, which is basically what all taoists try to do.

Hehehehe the Tao of Pooh! I heard someone talking about that on here once... something about everyone wearing "Tao of Pooh" tshirts. I think pooh didn't care, but he didn't really understand the flow of things either which IS the tao.

I think for the same reason I've heard Forest Gump suggested as a good Taoist film :D *Run Forest, run!*

I've also heard the online Taoist community compared to a bunch of Ents.

Actually, I believe PureX has a point. Much of what you say reminds me of my zen master speaking, but not so much of my Taoist master speaking. One thing that sticks out to me however is the concept of humility. It is rampant within Taoism, yet you seem to show very little sign of it.

Taoist masters are part of the Tao.
Zen masters are part of the Tao.
All 'masters' are part of the Tao.

In the Tao
there are no names.

I'm reminded of something from the Tao Te Ching...

"The Tao cannot be pulled or pushed from right to left..."

Why would it be one sided?

shouldn't the concept of 'te' be used here instead of tao? correct me if i'm wrong, but i was under the impression that te is 'the shape and power of tao; it is the way the tao manifests, it is tao particularized to a form or a virtue' ( jonathan star, introduction to the definitive tao te ching p.2).

anyway, i've been thinking about this question for a while, and i can't really come up with a good answer. it's a tough one.
