There are gay consevatives. But do you think a gay conservative could win the Republican primary any time in the foreseeable future? And then go on to win the Presidency?

No, because Trump has the thing wound up. However, s/he might win another time. (shrug)

I probably won't vote Republican. I definitely won't vote Democrat, given the group running. I might just write in 'Scrooge McDuck."

Not that my vote will mean anything anyway. I'm in California. The Dems have that state locked up no matter what. I will, however, vote. I want to keep my griping rights.

I'm for equal rights for everyone, and on the surface do not express an opinion about being LGB. Inside all that it makes me uneasy, but who am I to judge anyone. That is for God, and I am happy to stay out of it.

It gets frustrating however to have all that shoved in my face. Why do I have to know if Pete Buttigieg is gay and is married to a man? Someone also elected a Lesbian Mayor (?) and all I care is that she does the job to the satisfaction of those who elected her.

I generally don't think about folks and their sexual relations.

It all has the potential of being pretty creepy. If I thought about it, I'm as likely to flinch thinking about the details of a hetrosexual relationship as a homosexual relationship. So basically not my business, nothing to think about.

I always thought it weird. We're not electing their spouses or their sexual preferences. I'd rather vote for someone who doesn't make a big deal about something not related to the job.

Spouses, mostly women, have been a major part political life often taking up the charity and social activities for the elected partner. For example Barbara Bush. The role of spouses are very easy to miss at times as a lot of work is outside the normal political battlefield and is a bi-partisan agenda few disagree with. Look at it as an delegation of duties not of the job but of politics.
