Everything takes place in consciousness, but consciousness is not experienced. The consciousness can be conscious of itself. That is when consciousness experiences itself. Usually, this purity of consciousness is brought about by being as happy as one can. Not necessarily thinking happy thoughts but also by not living with bad thoughts. Pure consciousness is not separate from the physical body, it is the entire nervous system functioning with the brain to make an interpretation of the sense information that is interaction in the environment. It is not of some magical source that is single. It is experienced universally but the interpretation of objects, including the self, is entirely by the psyche, which carries a set of beliefs based on memories, which directly influence the perception of self and it's arbitrary relations to time and space.
