Yes, Pastek is correct, it was done on purpose because I'm unsure about what to do, still questioning my choices and wondering if I'm doing the right thing or not.

My humble, but warmly appreciated shrine:-

This is a Nichiren-Shu shrine. Nichiren-Shu permits the freedom for a shrine to consist of either just the statue of Shakyamuni, or just a Paper Gohhonzen, or as in my case, a combination of both (Buddha Shakyamuni sits in front of the Gohonzen, signifying the universer of the law of cause and effect being all around him).

As you may be aware, some other Nichiren schools (such as SGI and Nichiren-Shoshu) do not 'permit' any statue or image of Buddha Shakyamuni to form part of a shrine; only a Gohonzen in an altar cabinet.

I would not be without my beautiful Buddha Shakyamuni statue and I'm grateful that Nichiren-Shu encourages liberal freedom in such matters.
