Cops caught on video harassing lesbian inside womens’ bathroom thinking she’s a man

It has begun. This is the result of the fear mongering and scapegoating of transgender. This is a woman, no evidence that she is even transgender and no reason to think so (and I would not care even if she was). But the police felt it was their job to harass her because she did not look feminine enough. Good job guys! Protecting women from women who want to use the bathroom.

This will not be the last time this happens. If these "bathroom laws" are allowed to continue we are going to start seeing lots of videos like this. Police wasting their time policing bathrooms and harassing innocent people who just need to pee.

Man, you should be happy to live in a place where there is so little actual crime for police to deal with that they can split time as bathroom monitors...

Ahem.

But on-topic: Do they really have nothing more important to do?

Thank you for bringing this up. I've been mentioning here for years that people are just too uptight when it comes to restroom use, and transsexuals do face consequences for using the restroom of the gender the identify and present as. But, I've never heard of it getting so bad that a cis-woman gets harassed over it.

I wouldn't scream with caps lock on, but I am prone to quoting NWA (except I really can't here because the language is against the rules).

That isn't necessarily true. Even in places like New York where there is no shortage of crime, I have read of trans-women being harassed, and even ticketed, for using the women's restroom.

It is not clear from the story how the police got involved. But once they got involved they clearly did the wrong thing.
What would be the right thing if they were investigating a complaint and the person had no ID. Make their own judgement call on male appearance? And what if the person was even more male looking (and was indeed a man without ID). I can see if there is a complaint that ID can be required. I don't know a better system.

This article looks like an attempt to push LGBT activists buttons which is easy to do. Now the article didn't seem interested or didn't know the cause of the investigation in the first place. Were the officers just investigating a complaint as they are required to do?
Officers are not required to remove women from woman's bathrooms. If they were investigating, fine, but there is no evidence there was a problem here. They had absolutely no cause to do what they did.

If the person was causing a disturbance, then remove them. If the person was not making a disturbance leave them alone. Why is that so complicated?
