Politics is the religion of atheists

I'm not sure if politics is the religion of atheist but yes, I'm an atheist and an involved member of a political party. And very proud of it, too.

Something I feel makes a positive difference to society.

And maybe, more 'religious' people could spend less time in a praying group and more time in a political group (left leaning of course :)), it's very rewarding and invigorating. And I'm sure god would really appreciate it

And you know what, I'll go a step further. It would be better for parents to indoctrinate their children with positive political beliefs then that of antiquated religions like Christianity.

There's plenty of theists around that get deep into politics, too.

Atheists are believers too.
My religion is living history.
If you define "religion" as something that someone does in their free time. So basically synonymous with "hobby", What's your hobby, Christianity?

Another hobby of mine is not collecting stamps.

I was trying to understand why you would say such a thing. After all, it is clearly well off-mark and that should be self-evident even to you.

My best guess is that you have noticed that atheists are somewhat more politically conscious (on the whole) than Christians (and Muslims) tend to be and are misattributing causes and consequences.

There are some believers that are much too passive, sometimes because they just follow the political directives from their preachers.

I'm atheist, i believe lots of things. For example i believe the sun is shining (for a change), i can see it with my own eyes. Another thing that i believe is that you know little about atheists and what it means to be atheist, here let me help you with a dictionary definition (Oxford Languages)...

Atheist. a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.

Nothing more nothing less.

Yes all true but finder solace with 'bigger' issues may mean that atheist could turn to politics instead of religion?

People are believers, in general. Politics has nothing especially to do with atheism. Atheism is not a religious belief system. In my view I don't have an ideology, like a religion, but might have tendencies towards beliefs - one being that science is the better system to discover the larger number of truths as to reality, and where any choice from so many religions makes them less likely to do so.

Politics has nothing to do with religion. Until the religious push their way in to politics to have their policies and beliefs in statute as is happening in America. A sure way to turn many atheists off politics

Yes a I agree but I mean as an interest, a past time. A way to believe in something meaningful, to be part of something bigger than oneself.

Almost anything is on the cards but not a god. That's the only thing that makes an atheist.

Being atheist does not mean one does not believe anything, only that one doesn't believe in gods.

Politics has far deeper ties to religion. It is only in recent history that there has been a separation of church and state, and majority of countries still tie together religion and state, and even in the US one of the main goals of the conservative party is to make the US a Christian Nation.
