Atheists are believers too.
I always find it interesting how many people can't understand the difference between "atheism isn't a belief" and "atheists have no beliefs."

When you aren't online, do you hang out at rec league baseball games to shout "gotcha!" at people? "You said that accounting isn't a sport, but here you are... an accountant playing a sport!"

I can understand why this might happen:
Some beliefs end in "ism", hence confusion
Atheism is defined using the word "belief"

Theism: Believe in existence of God
A-Theism: Lack of belief in existence of God
Anti-Theism: Opposed to belief in existence of God

It Aint Necessarily So

Politics has nothing to do with religion. Until the religious push their way in to politics to have their policies and beliefs in statute as is happening in America. A sure way to turn many atheists off politics
It's also a good way to turn people off of religion, or at least the dominant American form of it, which is antithetical to bedrock American principals church-state separation and bodily autonomy. Some people object to the church imposing itself on them, violating the Constitution's separation clause, limiting their freedoms, and threatening their health and well-being.
Atheism is defined using the word "belief"
Simple concepts seem to elude many theists, like using the word belief without stating one and calling that a belief, or the difference between saying one doesn't believe in gods and saying that he knows that none exist, or as another poster noted, the difference between having no god belief and having no beliefs at all.

Atheists are people comfortable without a religion or a god belief.

Can we assume that you are a theist? To my knowledge, nobody else writes things like that.

And it's an interesting phenomenon. Theists like to attach words like worship, faith, and religion to the people who don't want or need any of that. It's done to offend atheists, but it's actually quite the self-own using something one values himself as an insult to people who reject it.

"I always flinch in embarrassment for the believer who trots out, 'Atheism is just another kind of faith,' because it's a tacit admission that taking claims on faith is a silly thing to do. When you've succumbed to arguing that the opposition is just as misguided as you are, it's time to take a step back and rethink your attitudes." - Amanda Marcotte

Oh oh oh really? I believe your point is a bit trite, does that count? What does it mean to 'believe' in politics? Do you mean to believe that by political means human affairs can be governed? Is that a belief or an observation on how politics generally works? Or are you thinking of some metaphysical branch of invisible politics I haven't heard of?

My religion is living history.
If you define "religion" as something that someone does in their free time. So basically synonymous with "hobby", What's your hobby, Christianity?

Another hobby of mine is not collecting stamps.
Ah but do you acknowledge the existence of stamps?

Old "habits" die hard! Remove 'H' and "a bit" remains. Remove 'A' and "bit" remains. Remove 'B' and still "it" remains.

I agree - some Atheists (not all) have turned politics into their religion. They used to blindly believe in some religion because they were unlucky enough to be born into a religion with many holes. Once they saw through the holes in the concept - they discarded it but their need to continue to blindly believe in something - never left their system. So they start believing in a political candidate and start believing in her/him with blind faith.

No amount of truth against that candidate can take them away from having their trust on their candidate. They blindly hate the other candidates. In current election in USA - we see Kamala supporters blindly believing in her without knowing anything about her and they hate Trump and vice versa!

However I have noticed mostly Atheists, non-religious folks (nones) and member of LGBTQIA2S+ are primarily supporting Kamala. Why is that? Because they believe in women's right for abortion and gay rights etc. So due to personal agenda and a couple of self serving reasons - they have chosen to avoid the bigger picture and are ready to hand over the helm to someone who has no experience at all as to how to handle the powerful woke warmonger establishment. Did Biden call Putin or Bibi to find a solution to stop the killings? as far as I know - he did not!
It is a shame that many Atheists are also onboard with the LGBTQIA2S+ and in favor of Kamala and also blindly following her like a religion. Don't you guys care that in retaliation to one day of a barbaric attack - over 41 thousand folks including kids have been killed? For months death and destruction is continuing! How is that "in defense"? There has to be a way to not kill the kids!

If Atheists had their own little Church and own day of gathering to meet up and talk about how this life is the only life and figure out new ways to enjoy it to its fullest extent (as they believe there is no proof of afterlife and no proof of God) then maybe they would have stayed away from indorsing someone they know very little about and just discuss other matters such as climate change (which is by the way another religion by itself). China and India will never stop polluting the world. They will sell you batteries and wind mills though -so that you can clean while they dirty it up again! You can process your garbage with green tech while China throws their garbage into the sea. It makes sense - someone needs to religiously clean.... Right?

That is why I am proposing Wednesday (hump day) for the Atheists to celebrate their non-belief. They should gather somewhere and ride around a Camel or something to that effect. If they believe they came from the great Ape then they can visit the zoo or something.
It would attract more followers and their team will expand because who doesn't like to ride a camel or play with the monkeys! Right?
