If 'a' god showed up, I would ask it "Why?" (Sort of in the lines of Cindy Lou Who, who was no more than two...) I would then consider its reply before deciding.

If something showed up claiming to be 'the' God, I would ask it how--when a 100 million candle-power searchlight and a 100 billion candle-power searchlight at a distance of 6 inches are equally blinding to me--could it possibly convince me that it is indeed "THE" God, and not some other lesser being or deity.

No it's the perspective of hard polytheists. You not liking it and being judgmental about it is on you.
Even the new Pope thinks people from other religions can get to heaven. Exclusivist are becoming dinosaurs is my view.

The hard-core atheists often like fundamentalist exclusivists because they are easier to debate against. The more intelligent theists, not so easy.

I understanding the gods are all different beings makes be dumber than you then you haven't read any myths outside your own little made up theology. I don't give to craps about Heaven. It's not part of my religion. See how that works.

I couldn't choose any of your options. If a god of another religion appeared to me, I'd incorporate them into my worship and honor them with all good will. I'd also invite them to take refuge in the Triple Gem, which is a virtuous thing to do. I'd explain to them though that I can't change religions because I believe I'm on the path of truth. We should be kind to unseen beings, however.

If the experience were externally verifiable, it would be interesting... I'd have a lot of questions for this supposed god, though. o_O

I sense hostility with little interest in discussion there. Fare well.

Purely hypothetical question; please vote.

I voted that Satan was trying to fool me because he's crafty and a good persuader in that he can make lies appear to be the truth.. It could be a false prophet or preacher, i.e. a human, doing this as well. There should be a way or some intuition involved in that if you're being swayed by a false prophet, then you can determine the lies and realize what the truth it is you believe. If you know the truth, then you can separate the truth from the lies.

Sorry, but your claim makes little sense in my perspective. I have been around - Africa, Asia, America, Europe. I have been accosted by demons 4 times; though, accosted may be a bit strong for 2 of the incidents. One incident was witnessed by a large group of people. I have talked to people who say they speak to their god daily, forth and back communication.

My Christian perspective is that all the gods of the various peoples around the globe are demons who masquerade as gods in various ways so that to me there is only one true God, the Creator, the Almighty, and his Son, Christ Jesus, who also is a mighty god by reason of being that one's son.

So, in the case one of these other 'gods' spoke to me, I would assume it a demon. The cases in which I encountered these, none spoke, but they might as well have since they were doing things in our reality that affected me.

None of these work for me. I believe to an extent other gods exist as people experience them. Nothing would be unusual for me to encounter something, even a deity convinced of it's superiority and so I could dismiss it. I've dismissed crazier demands from seeming deities before.

A spiritual experience like this, if anything would worry me that it might of happened due to some doubt I had in my ability to practice my religion, not in my conviction of my beliefs. In that case, it's conceivable I might change religious sects but not necessarily likely.

If I did convert it would be a case of converting to something "adjacent" to me and the shift of sect or tradition wouldn't be an admission of being wrong so much as an evolution of understanding caused me to find something more in line with my beliefs. Actually, some sects believe the same as I do, just in different terms or practice it differently. Those are the ones I'd consider the most to converting to after such an experience.

That said, if it was something very different like the god of Islam or Christianity I wouldn't even if my life depended on it. Essentially I'm utterly convinced that the truth is approximately somewhere in Hindu/Buddhist thought and convincing me otherwise is probably impossible.

I just vote "No" in general. Principle still has meaning for some of us.

I would be perfectly fine with worshipping that god, but if he or she really ...required me to join a particular different religion, they'd have to be hella convincing.
Because I believe that all gods are just manifestations of the one underlying reality and all religions are just different paths towards the same goal, so I don't see how worshipping a particular deity is necessarily correlated with adhering to a particular religion. And why one would necessarily require the other.

I would vote No, because a entity that appeared to me in physical form has proved itself to be no more a god than osiris or jesus.
Or YHVH, who had a meal with Abraham, wrestled with Jacob, walked with Adam and Eve.
It assumes there is a different God for each religion and at most one is real.
From your knowledge base; don't you accept that there have been multiple avatars, and if we look into each individual religion, couldn't each be influenced by a different incarnation (Tho each of these stems from the One Source that creates reality)?

In my opinion. :innocent:
