Poll (kinda) ... How long do you stay on RF? How frequently visit?

Sedim Haba

Outa here... bye-bye!
I stop by every night.

I see the Alerts about the threads that are watched.

I look at the list of ten New Threads there on the right side.

When there's no religious threads, I leave.

(Sometimes they're foolers, titles of songs and such.)

As I said in another thread, once in a few days, and I try to limit myself to the subforum of my religion. In my opinion, the atmosphere in RF is much too cantankerous so that visiting the forum demands some sort of psychological strength and it doesn't always bring out the best in people, at least not in me. This forum is claimed to be "friendly", while it largely isn't, and it's claimed to be "religious", which it largely isn't either. :(

I'm pretty steady but sporadic. I might post a lot and then take long breaks once in awhile.

I stop by most nights.

I read the new threads list.

But for me religion is largely just outdated ancient politics so I see no reason to discriminate against new politics that are altering the religious landscape today anyway.

I'm a lot less likely to post in the weekdays due to lack of time.

In my opinion.

Lately I've been thinking; perhaps I visit too frequently.

I think I've been the victim of some most illogical thinking on my part. I wish I had a forum that was centered around learning about one another's ideological perspectives, perhaps even engaging in some respectful, open-minded dialectic on a few diverse topics. RF is the closest to one of these that I've found.

It's also very much not that.

I'm confused. Are we debating the frequency and duration of my visits to RF?

Anyway, I check in every day or two, but I don't participate as often as I used to.

I'm still an occasional drive-by poster. I check in, sometimes, everyday. But often I just don't show up or post at all. One of my absences was about six almost seven years. I almost forgot the RF existed. I maintain that the RF is good but so is knowing when to and then taking a break from.

Well, I didn't join RF just because it is supposed to be all about religions (so much else on offer :fearscream:), and mostly I don't engage in the religious to-and-fro because such doesn't generally interest me apart from where any particular religious belief might impact further than the members, and even then, such does interest me as to how it does impact the members too.

So, I generally check in one or more times a day, and I'm selective enough not to be bothered by that which might depress me - as I hope my contributions do - but I am realistic enough to know that we all tend to have beliefs that are not amenable to change and might have to live with such.

It's not that often. I've even reduced it in recent times. I can stop any time. Really.

I pop in 3 or 4 times a day, yes I'm that addicted.

Sometimes i pop right out again more often I'll stay for a while. It depends on what's happening at home and/or if i find any interesting threads.

My last visit of the day is while in bed before sleep. We go to bed around 22:00, hubby falls asleep almost instantly. Me on the other hand can never get to sleep until around midnight so i almost always spend the time on RF between playing different games on my phone.

It's more fun in the afternoon and evening when America has pulled itself out of bed.

I'm on every day, off and on throughout, although I don't always post. I've found that it's almost a perfect activity for my attention deficits and other cognitive issues...it doesn't matter if I lose my concentration and get distracted by something else...I come back to it and everything is still here...even if I've in the meantime forgotten what I had just read or posted...:D

I'm on everyday. Most days it's pretty frequent. I check for new stuff using "new posts" and scan the new threads on the left. In the mornings it takes about an hour to catch up. After that, it's usually just a few minutes at a time. Then in the evening I browse more slowly while I'm playing with the dog.

I check in a lot. I might not always post, but I check for alerts and new threads. However, my visits might only last a few minutes, depending on what's going on. I am a very social person with little opportunity for face to face conversation, so I find being able to frequently interact with people(even if its only online) good for my mental health.

Like a few others have mentioned, I'm not as active when everything boils down to politics. I'm just not interested in arguing, and that's what politics usually comes down to.

Same here except I check the journals and jokes forums before leaving.

I dislike that, too.

I try the psychological strength thing, and I eventually give up. It's either because I work for a living and feel tired at the end of my work schedule or that I'm hypersensitive. Probably both are factors. And, yeah, RF is not all that friendly and not all that religious.

But for me religion is largely just outdated ancient politics so I see no reason to discriminate against new politics that are altering the religious landscape today anyway.

That's a good point.

I wish I had a forum that was centered around learning about one another's ideological perspectives, perhaps even engaging in some respectful, open-minded dialectic on a few diverse topics. RF is the closest to one of these that I've found.

It's also very much not that.

There are probably better forums or other spaces out there.

Like a few others have mentioned, I'm not as active when everything boils down to politics. I'm just not interested in arguing, and that's what politics usually comes down to.

In my experience, religious people debating religion is fine and it can even be enjoyable. On the other hand---the dirty left hand---debating politics often does not bring out the best in people.
