Pope says anti-maskers stuck in ‘their own little world of interests’

Why do you ask?
Because when you make the kind of blanket statement that you did, then it brings into question all laws.

We elect leaders to not only do our calling but to also make decisions hopefully that reflect the need for protecting innocent lives. Mandating the wearing of masks we know can lower the death rate from the covid virus and some other viruses as well. In eastern Asia, where mask wearing is much more accepted, their covid rate is a fraction of what it is here in the States for example.

Do you think Christians are better behaved than everyone else? I hate to think what you might say about atheists.
This wasn't about you but the person I was addressing, which is why I brought up basic Christian teachings. I have no problem with Christians or atheists, so all you have done is to invent a disingenuous strawman.

When you make bigoted blanket statements like that, and ask hateful questions like that, maybe you should think more, and take time to be a loving neighbor, rather than a venom spitter like the others I see here.

I wear a mask, but I don't like to call people out on it. I see that as authoritarian.
It isn't at all "authoritarian." It's calling people out on irresponsibility in an effort to get them to either maybe reconsider and see the error of their ways (if they are purposefully flouting the use of masks) or to get them to at least toe the line out of fear of more public reprisal and embarassment. If that's "authoritarian" then half the things people do on a daily basis to try and push others in what they feel is the right direction is "authoritarian." When you see irresponsibility and childish shenanigans... CALL IT OUT.

I was just at the grocery store the other day, and the man that was working a group of self-scanning machines was elderly, handicapped, and used a walker. Well, several people had issues all at the same time - needing "approval" for their alcohol purchases, or their coupon wasn't accepted, etc. - and he was having a tough time getting to all of them in a timely manner. While I WAITED PATIENTLY LIKE A NON-DIPSTICK, one particular woman was huffing about how long it was taking and how she was going to "call Tiffany" (apparently some store manager she knew). So I said, loudly, in my best damsel in distress voice: "No... not Tiffany! Anyone by Tiffany!!!" She shut her mouth from that point on, and waited like everyone else. Point being: I didn't like her attitude, or her public presence and display of entitlement - so I slapped her, verbally. I'd do it again in a heartbeat - maybe even think of something even more embarrassing to say to her.

At least I can appreciate your tone, having offered reasoning... it's better than mocking and criticizing of others, calling them names and insulting their character, insinuating the worst in others, etc.

Think of it this way:
I'm a Luciferian and showing more concern and love for my neighbors than what so many Christians do.
Atheists are even behaving themselves better and more responsibly than how many Christians are.
So many of these Christians cry and whine about "me." They can't be bothered to do something as simple and easy as wear a mask to help keep others safe without throwing a fit about it, or just refusing to do it.

I don't appreciate people who find wearing a mask objectionable. Sure, it's not comfortable. But it's such a minor thing. Claims of rights and government over reach and any signs of resistance towards it, these wankers are helping spread disease and ensure America continies to struggle with covid in ways other countries just are not.

He had lethal doses of fentanyl in his system and he had been screaming that he couldn't breathe long before that officer touched him.
He wasn't screaming that until piggly-wiggly was kneeling on his kneck.
I'm not saying that the officer didn't do anything wrong or that his actions did not contribute to Floyd's death.
Floyd should still be alive. He was OK until his executioner knelt on his neck for several minutes.
A system that fires or prosecutes officers who commit crimes is not one that "tolerates" these things.
Very rarely. White or black, young or old, homeless or mayor, the police rarely are punished for this wicked deeds. Such as, they are rarely punished when the murder Native Americans, black people, or the mentally ill. They committ a crime by driving drunk while on duty and kill someone, their piggy friends will try very hard to cover things up.
It feels a lot like 1984 up in here.
You obviously have never read that.
Those who are sick or who are susceptible should stay home and quarantine themselves.
Even those with no and mild symptoms spread it.
An inconvenience that the US government has no authority to enforce and puts us on a slippery slope.
This is no slippery slope unless you want to consider anti-smoking laws and laws against drunk driving an iver reach.
That's what they were. Now that we understand the virus better we don't need to lock anything down anymore.
Then why are hospitals rapidly filling up? Learning about it hasn't changed how devastating this virus is.
it's only deadly to the old and weak. Quarantine them. Not everyone.
Even the young and healthy have fallen horribly ill and died.
The entire world did not lock down like we did.
It mostly locked down more. And now they have far less restrictions with far fewer cases.
"Rules for thee but not for me" Talk about denial.
'I take responsibility': Nancy Pelosi says she was 'set up' by San Francisco hair salon
An attorney for the man who did her hair also said Pelosi appeared to have been set up.

Matthew Soleimanpour said his client received permission from the salon owner a day earlier to make the appointment.
And it's funny that liberals and Democrats are allowed to repent - but conservatives and Republicans (especially Trump) slip up once and they can never live it down.
Reps usually don't. Like you won't hear a whisper of an apology due to their negligent amd deadly hamdling of Covid.
People targeting police because they have been lied to about racial issues, statistics and COVID is what has led to this misery in law enforcement.
No, police are dying of covid, and covid is killing more cops than anything else.

Pope says anti-maskers stuck in 'their own little world of interests'

Pope Francis has taken aim at protests against coronavirus restrictions, contrasting them with the “healthy indignation” seen in demonstrations against racism after the death of George Floyd.

“Some groups protested, refusing to keep their distance, marching against travel restrictions – as if measures that governments must impose for the good of their people constitute some kind of political assault on autonomy or personal freedom,” he said in a new book.

He railed against those who claim “that being forced to wear a mask is an unwarranted imposition by the state”.

“You’ll never find such people protesting the death of George Floyd, or joining a demonstration because there are shantytowns where children lack water or education, or because there are whole families who have lost their income,” he said. “On such matters they would never protest; they are incapable of moving outside of their own little world of interests.”

The book, Let Us Dream: A Path to a Better Future, is derived from conversations with his British biographer Austen Ivereigh, and is largely centred on his response to the coronavirus crisis.

“With some exceptions, governments have made great efforts to put the wellbeing of their people first, acting decisively to protect health and to save lives,” the pope said.

However, he added that some had put the economy before public health. “Those governments have mortgaged their people,” he said.

The death in police custody of Floyd a 44-year-old African American man, triggered a wave of anti-racism protests in the US and around the world.

The pope again condemned the “horrendous” death and hailed how “many people who otherwise did not know each other took to the streets to protest, united by a healthy indignation.”

The most expensive destructive Civil unrest in the history of USA is healthy indignation.

Words have lost all meaning.

"Even' atheists?

Going by stats on who goes to jail, those atheists would have to backside a while to get down where the Christians are.
