Porn for your bible!

The flyer clearly says you must be 18 and have an ID to be able to do the swap. Thats how it can be legal, and they wont have to worry about people doing alot of follow-ups to see if porn was given to minors.

What I don't get is the legality of the whole thing. How are they able to hand out porn, for free, in public, and get away with it. ACLU is probably heavily involved with enforcing this one. Probably have ACLU police standing by to enforce the right to freedom of speech, in case someone gives them a hard time. ACLU is above the law, it seems. The rest of us seem to have no rights. It's probably illegal to hand out Bibles on a college campus, but it's perfectly legal to hand out porn in exchange for a Bible.
That's right. The ACLU has its own police, and they are heavily involved in distributing pornography. They do it just to tick believers off; it's fun to watch believers writhe on the ground, foaming at the mouth and raving wildly.

Oh, and it is illegal to hand out Bibles. Just try it. Life without parole, buddy.

How is it illegal to hand out Bibles?

If it is, then several churches are unaware of that. Several churches hand out pocket-sized New Testaments each and every year at a community college.

I only have one bible. It was given to me by a friend, and I'm not about to give it up. But I wonder if they will trade my copies of James Dobson's books for porn? Given my opinion of his books, I would see that as a nearly equal trade.

Yeah, it's not like they can have themselves a good ol' book burning here. I'm pretty sure most contemporary porn is printed on vinyl.

Seeing the Atheists have no use for the Bible, now maybe someone will get some use out of it. It's not such a bad thing. ;)
An interesting point, though I've noticed that many of the Atheists (especially on this site) tend to be incredibly well versed in scripture and the various translations of it.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly. Are people trading in porn for Bibles, or Bibles for porn? If it's the latter, are the Bibles going somewhere that they might have a shortage of them? (Like countries where they're illegal?)

There are some pretty racy stories in the bible. Might I be able to trade an old ratty bible for a new one?

and I wonder if they'd accept a concordance for some of that porn they're amassing.....

I saw a story the other day saying there is a Christian group making a calendar portraying some of the racier stories from the Bible in an erotic kind of way. I guess they are trying a new way to bring people to church.

Hey man, didn't Lot have himself an incestuous three-way? I'd hate to stumble upon a re-enactment of that one (or would i?)

Well, the URL said it all. I didn't waste my time going the site. Obviously they are a group of atheist who have no real interest in the Bible and will do whatever they have to, to minimize the message. Guess who will get the last laugh?

Is an atheist's disinterest in the bible really that shocking? Contrary to popular beleif, not all of them are tearing themselves up wondering if the grass is greener, ya know?

Is that your biggest heavenly ambition? To laugh at the naesayers? I'd like to think most folk don't devote themselves to god so they can spit on the rest of us. Perhaps i'm misguided in that light...

I thought so too, but just wanted to check.

For some reason, sarcasm doesn't come through text very well for me.
I'll try to restrain myself. But some statements just don't seem to lend themselves to any response that isn't sarcastic. ;)

On their (the athiests) website they said not call them immature as it is making an assumption. But given the situation, I dont think its much of an assumption but closer to the truth. If you dont belive in something then thats perfectly fine. Publically humiliating others belifes simply because you disagree with them, thats immature. If they would of had a table out with information about why they dont belive in religion, instead of attempting to publically humiliate those who belive in religion, that would of gained a lot more respect from me.

Welcome to the Forum, Apex!

I agree with you that it's safe to see this porn for bibles thing as an immature prank. But of course there's no law against college students being immature. If there were, you'd have to lock up a third of all the college students in the country. How does this porn for bibles thing differ from a panty raid?

I know there is no law against what they did which is why I wouldnt attempt to stop them or stand in front of them protesting. But there is a difference in what they did and a normal college student (which I am one) acting immature. What they did was not meant as a prank, they had the intention of purposfully causing harm to anyone beliving in religion. Normally when we college students act immature and pull pranks we arent being serious. We know it is in fun (although some do end up getting hurt sometimes). These athiests did not do it in fun but with intention to harm. When you begin to insult someones beliefs you begin to insult their very being, which in my opinion is crossing the line.

I was listening to the news this morning on the radio, when the topic of Porn for Bibles came up. Evidentally a group from UTSA is trading porn for bibles. It was probably publicised more where I live (Texas), since these are Texas students that are offerring this. Just didn't know if anyone else had seen this. Any thoughts?

See entire article here: http://www.woai.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=FAE63160-8C71-4C02-803A-E9BE25160B5D.

To be fair, here is the response from the group that is offerring this: http://www.atheistagenda.org/porno-for-bibles/
So Bible readers are giving up their Bibles for porn? It might work out as an even exchange of info. Conservatives learn about sex, Atheists learn about God. It's a great thing if the atheists actually read the Bible.

EDIT: I have a better idea. Why not tell the Kristians that the atheists will vote for creationism to be taught in school in exchange for a Bible? That could work...

Well...last time I checked, the Gideons are still leaving Bibles in hotels. ;)

I see this as a harmless stunt...unless the atheists read the Bibles they gain in trade and start coming to church...in that case, it would be a good thing. That would save us the effort to convert them.:D
