Power of God???????

Hello Everyone , I am very new to the forum and hope my question is not too simplistic but I would like to know others take on the following...
If God is so powerful...why does he need anyone to fight , propagate or kill on His or Her behalf to prove that He/She is powerful or the only God? After all if God being as powerful as He/She is then surely He/She has the power and ability to destroy everyone false by Himself/Herself without resorting to using mere humans to do it?

God does not need anyone to fight or kill on His behalf. However sometimes people must fight in self-defense and for justice. Lovingly propagating what you believe to be good teachings are OK by me; people can decide their own beliefs in the end.

I understand and accept self defense etc...refering more to the those that kill in the name of God...like crusaders...zealots..ISIS..etc
Living your life according to your beliefs should be your propagation and if a seeker likes it..they will be drawn and you can share....

Those types are actually acting against God's will. God doesn't need them.

That's a great way to teach, by example. I would also like literature and websites to learn more.

So many of us have asked this basic question.

Then there is the second question - why would a God whom is supposed to be righteousness, love, all knowing, etc., advocate evil, like slavery, patriarchy, rape and murder of women, rape of prisoners, the sexual misuse of children, etc.?

The Bible is obviously not by any God.

There were some thinkings of ancients cultures that don't square with modern thought and culture. It's showing the social evolution of man. Things we think are fine now may be condemned in 1,000 years. I think the Bible needs to be understood in the context of its times.

Firstly, She doesn't need anybody to fight for her.
Secondly, She kills as she sees necessary.
Thirdly, She is all powerful. After all, she built the Universe and beyond.
Can you think of any human that has survived Her call?

I call her Mother Nature, but then, I'm a Deist.

As do I, however, they claim it is inspired by an All Knowing, Righteous, God.

No God would advocate such atrocities, and this shows it is just written by patriarchal men.

Where is the question? With freewill, we are making our own decisions. We can worship a wooden idol, or a head of lettuce; or nothing at all.

I suspect the one-god needs no such thing, as such would be contrary to its nature. That said, I am sure that certain humans like to believe that the one-god needs such a thing to rationalize their behaviors.

It is really all quite strange to me. From this Pagan's perspective, these people who claim to be fighting on the behalf of their one-god are not doing so at all, for their one-god has no need of such things. It seems to me that in reality they are serving some sort of tribal war god, among other sorts of gods, but certainly not the one-god.

Turn it around 180 degrees. If we see evil in the world, should we sit idle and do nothing or act. We cannot answer for God’s actions; we can only answer for our own.

Well, I have retired the OT from my important sources of knowledge. I think it hangs around because it was the tradition of Jesus (a truly important figure) and to this day is overly discussed by the non-Jewish world.

Many of the people here, totally discount God. Good that you have these questions in mind. Hope you get your answers.

It is said that God does not like dissenters. Either he will put them in eternal hell or ask his servants to kill all those who do not submit. Is it not said that he is a jealous God?

People are always looking to blame someone else for the problems they themselves are responsible for, People are violent, hateful, angry, and intolerant so they like to make up the fantasy that God is just like them (take the OT for example), when in reality the true God is just the opposite of most people; loving, kind, compassionate, truthful and wise. No wonder people don't want to worship a God with those good qualities, they could never live up to them, better to make up a God full of Human frailty and flaws, so they can make the excuse; "I'm this way because God made me like this, and this is what God is like"

He doesn't.

People have done stupid stuff (and heinous stuff) in the name of religion for centuries.

And they always lie and blame God for giving them the idea to do all that terrible stuff, when in fact its all their own idea.
