Prayer in public

When I was younger, I went through an Islamic "phase" as a teenager. Okay I was actually somewhat pious. I would only be able to fit in three prayers, but I would always try to make the morning one.
Something I always had trouble with was praying in public, since there wasn't a single Muslim for atleast a good 10 miles, there was a really, really islamiphobic kid who was always looking for an excuse to try to bully me, so prostrating in prayer didn't really seem like a good idea with him around (he was always around).
So was it okay for me to miss out those prayers? I did everything I could, I talked to the school, tried to persuade them to let me out of class, but they would have none of it.

The prophet peace be upon him prayed in public in Mekkah in the first years of revelation, Quray****es use to throw dirt on him while he was prostrating.

And look what Islam became because of his patience :)

May Allah accept your good deeds, Ameen
