What? Me worry?
I think the Vatican is hiding plans for a nuclear weapon. That'll teach 'em.

That's a truly amazing conspiriacy theory; and I STRONGLY suspect you aren't actually targeting the Vatican at all with your remark, but another religion altogether.

The attacker in the case cited was a Muslim, and his victim was a Christian. The attack, moreover, was vicious; and motivated by a zeal for Islam. The Vatican had nothing to do with it, nor any third group.

As the assailants fled, Juma poured water on the priest, who was rushed to Mnazi Moja Hospital in critical condition; Mwangamba was later transferred to Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar-es Salaam where his condition is stable, ...

- ibid
It is the latest in a series of assaults on religious figures in the country and the fifth acid attack since November, when a Muslim cleric was hospitalised with acid burns.

I suspect that many if not all of the people that helped this recent victim of vicious extremism were Muslim as well.

As for your transparent attempt to stigmatize Islam, let's first talk about the vicious attack on Emily Lyons and "Christian zeal."

Actually I was just kidding.

You get the "best comment" award.

Besides the attack being sad, I was wondering if there were others here who feel that Christians don't belong on Zanzibar. For those who don't know the geography and history of it all, Zanzibar was the seat of an Omani colony, then a Portugese colony, then an independent sultanate, then a British protectorate. After a brief period of independence, it was united with the mostly Christian former colony of Tanganyika to form "Tanzania".

Some Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia, do not allow openly practicing Christians. Apparently, some in Zanzibar desire the same for their island. Are there some here who think that's a good idea?

First of all "Christian extremists do it too" is not a valid excuse. You should have left it with your point about the Muslims that helped him because that was a very good one.

Secondly, this type of behaviour in Islamic nations is far more common and you know that.

If you doubt me, ask Christians in Iraq, Syria or Egypt for starters.

I'm interested in the "Christians don't belong here" line. The Muslims have been pulling that one on the the Jews for a long time (as have the Christians). People don't seem to notice, though, that when you let this genie out of the bottle, he goes after everyone -- even after Christians... and then, maybe after the Muslims too. Who knows?

I would change it from 'Christians don't belong here' to 'Certain behaviours practised by certain Christians don't belong here." Essentially overt and sneaky proseltysing, the likes of what was hanging on my mailbox this morning ... obviously I'm a target because of my name.

I believe the horrific acts perpetrated by people of various religions identify them and most often their religion as followers of Satan, whether claiming to be Christian, Muslim, or some other religion. (1 John 3:10) the Catholic Church has been implicated in some of the most horrible slaughters in history, one notable example being the genocide in Rwanda. Muslims have also slaughtered innocents in the name of Allah, and continue to do so. I believe all these religions face God's adverse judgment and destruction. (Revelation 18:4-8)

I agree. Jesus is our role model, and he didn't go around even pretending to throw acid in people's faces.

It's all sort of goofy. On Rosh Hashannah, Jews around the world were throwing bread crumbs, etc. into the sea, representing their sins. That was followed by a ten-day period of introspection, and asking God and their fellows to forgive them their sins. The culmination of this season was Yom Kippur, a day of fasting and confession. The Muslims, meanwhile, were in Mecca, throwing stones symbolically at Satan.
What a different outlook between the two religions! The Jews believe they are charged by God with "being lights to the world", and the Muslims believe they're charged by God with conquest.

The Christians seem to fit somewhere in the middle; but they have Jesus as a role model, a man of peace; not a military leader like Muhammed. The Jews are charged by God to perform one military act: to take and hold Israel.

Before WWII, the Germans used to paint "Jews to Palestine!" on the walls. Now they and others shout "Jews out of Palestine!" It's pretty obvious what the world's program for the Jews is. There's a similar program in store for Bible-believers of every nationality, especially for Christians.

Come, lord Jesus!

Well I see paranoia and delusion run rampant

I don't think the untold numbers of dead and injured in attacks by religious zealots, nor their families and loved ones, would consider these paranoia or delusion.
