As far as I know worship is confined to God not any human being. Many Christians make the mistake of worshipping Jesus instead of God. Jesus worshipped God not Himself. It’s ok to love Jesus and His teachings but not to make Him God as He clearly is not and never said He was. Muslims have a clearer understanding in that they don’t worship Muhammad but God. Baha’is too, if you look at their prayers, all praying to God. We can pray to Jesus or Muhammad or other Messengers as long as it’s clear we are praying to them as Messengers not as God. That distinction should be clear in our minds when we pray.

Priests are just people and we not only should never ever worship them but also not accept blindly whatever they say because they are often wrong and some have secret ambitions.

I thought God had issues with those putting other gods before him. I think it's #1 on the no-no list.
