Profession of faith.....

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life...John 3;16
(1 John 5:13) I write YOU these things that YOU may know that YOU have life everlasting, YOU who put YOUR faith in the name of the Son of God
(John 6:40) For this is the will of my Father, that everyone that beholds the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him at the last day."
(John 20:31) But these have been written down that YOU may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and that, because of believing, YOU may have life by means of his name.
(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psa 107:24 these see the works of Jehovah and His wonders in the deep.
25 For He commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.
26 They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and all their wisdom is swallowed up.
28 And they cry to Jehovah in their trouble, and He brings them out of their troubles.
29 He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

With Christ I am nailed to the cross. I live now not with my own life, but Christ lives within me. I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and sacrificed himself for me. (Gal 2)
Lord Jesus, we celebrate this day the feast of St. Ignatius of Antioch who devoted his life to giving witness to following the way of Christ. His witness of this profession of faith cost him his life. May we learn from his example what giving all means in our profession of faith. May we grow stronger in our witness to following Christ in all that we do each day. We ask this in your name. Amen.

As much as we create a symphony of dissonant voices, blowing our own horn from our own perspective, this one little statement lies at the very heart of who we are, and it resonates with consonance throughout the world: I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and I take him as my Lord and Savior.
