Proof of Jesus...

Marcel

New Member
Hi,

As I’m new on your forum; I would like to introduce myself:

My name is Marcel, I live in Mexico with my wife and 4 dogs - I am 53 years old - computer engineer – retired.

Since, a long time, I’m interested in religion. - And I would like to ask you a personal question:

For you, what would be the “value” of a proof that Jesus really existed as man?

Let me add some words.

If such proof would be discovered - a scientific proof – irrefutable! … I don’t mean those thousands of fakes in Internet. No a real one – that HE really existed.

  • Would it change something in your belief / or not belief?
  • Would you see it as an attack on your convictions?
  • Would you pay for such a proof?
  • Would you buy a book about it?
  • Would you simply ignore such a proof?
Please describe your feeling about it.

Thank you
Marcel.

Hi, Marcel. I don't think it would be possible to prove Jesus' existence. We don't have his DNA, after all.

But if we could prove he existed, are you talking about a miracle-working Jesus? Or just some preacher named Jesus who lived around that time?

My reaction would depend on which Jesus was proved to exist.

I believe Jesus may have actually existed as a man, but thats it. His existence is not evidence of the miracle's. So, for me nothing would change.

Hi,
Thank you for your answers.

My question was: If somebody could prove scientifically that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, accordingly to the Gospels (for example) ? Would this be of some value for you?

Because as far as I know there is no such a scientific proof?

I'm sure that guys named Jesus have been born in Bethlehem. So far as I know, it was/is a common Jewish name.

So that proof would not change my views at all.

I just really try to understand your point of view.

>I'm sure that guys named Jesus have been born in Bethlehem

"Iesuah" was areally a common name.
But a sientific proof is not valuable?
It does NOT matter if he had existed or not. Such a proof would be value=0 ?

Marcel, it would be a lot easier to follow the conversation if you used the quote feature. I posted a tutorial some time ago, would you like the link?

There is no, nor can be, such proof. I believe in Paul. ;)

The aspect I find troubling of a mortal Jesus is mortals "willing" a second coming.

( Thank you Storm- for your help)

Well,

Now that I know that you are not very interested in a “proof” in Jesus. And I think mainly because it is accepted that there is no such a thing.
I can tell you why I was asking…
Since 2007, as a hermit here in Mexico without Internet ( I have Internet since 2 weeks ) - I was working on such a proof. I have found something incredible !!!! Last week I have made an international copyright on my thesis.
Since I have Internet I have performed many researches on Internet – I’m horrified, they are hundreds of fakes out there.
My work is a scientific proof on a chapter of the Bible. It is based on Planetology, Observation, Gospels and … sorry Mathematics. It is once again a demonstration! After reading my work anybody can do it for himself.
It is NOT AT ALL shocking for anybody… Nobody can be hurt by a mathematical demonstration. I was thinking that it would be accepted easily, by everybody – believers – atheist – Jewish – Muslims (Jesus is a prophet for them) etc, etc
Amazingly for me and as you wrote: Nobody seems to be interested. Beside a Doctor in theology in France, but he cannot help me really much.
From another hand my sister told me to write a book – But I was working very hard on my thesis and I need holiday more than work on book right now.
What do you think?

Evidence proving the existence of Jesus the man would not change anything for me, nor would i imagine for many others. The values he stood for in his teachings and way of life stand independently and hold weight as ideas in and of themselves regardless of evidence for the existence for the man who preached them.
Of course if evidence emerged proving the literal miracles performed, well of course my scientific outlook would be somewhat modified! :p
