What would be the purpose?
Same faith debates already covers 'Hindu debates' as you proposed. When you start a thread there, you're supposed to indicate which faith it is. There are no categories for 'Christian debates' etc. So that one just isn't necessary.
I much prefer the Vedanta section to be separate from the Hinduism one, because Hinduism is far more than Vedanta. Those of us not interested in Vedanta can live in peace, so to speak. Personally, I read through all the Hindu DIR, but usually never even open the Vedanta DIR. Mergiong them would mean some unnecessary reading for me (and perhaps others). Maybe I'm just lazy.
Regardless, it's not up to us so much as its up to the mods. (with our input, as like when this DIR became blue) They have plenty of work on a daily basis anyway.
edited to add... There are also some non-Hindus who personally identify as Vedantins, so they can participate in the Vedanta section.

A note on proposal:
Even one single request by any member in Hindu DIR to the Mods should be enough to transfer the topic to the Hindu debate section. I do not know what procedure is followed at present for transfer of a topic, perhaps discussion between Mods. Let us make it very simple.

Already the mods move stuff to same faith debates. I honestly don't see an issue.
