In your opinion, do you believe it is better to legalize prostitution where it is illegal, or to stop it?

My vote is to stop it.

Important Note:
This thread is about your opinion in ultimately legalizing it or stopping it.

How do you differentiate some one who is a kept mistress, from a prostitute.
Or a courtesan who certaily recieves generous gifts but does not charge for sex.
a better option might be to take extreme measures against those who "control, own, enslave or profit " from the sexual exploitation of women. But do no punish prostitutes or clients.

A third group are those people who enjoy sex and have sex outside marriage, who some countries class the same as prostitutes.
I do not see sex between two consenting people as in any way criminal.
Enforced sex, and those that rape or enable it, most certainly are criminal.

Legalize it and keep it monitored.

You're never going to get rid of prostitution. By legalizing it, you can at least have some more influence into protecting the prostitutes and their clients.

Legalize and regulate it, so there is less exploitation....

People who say stop it, when it will continue anyways, are allowing brutal murders, rapes, beatings, drug induced exploitation, etc.

The countries where it has been regulated, have much lower crime rates, and less deaths. :innocent:

Ah, you guys are making things complicated with your posts. Oh well, think of it as a free "like" thread for your first posts :)
Yeah it's complicated. Sorry for that. It's just a thing were reality and our wishes clash. It would be wonderful in my opinion if prostitution didn't exist and I would never use their service, like I would never use drugs if they were legal. Making a law just moves the problem into somewhere else.

You don't see any prostitutes in my country, but you know they exist and it's not that difficult to find them so a man or woman who wants that could get it. If they could control it in one country, you can be sure that the customers will go to another country and use illegal services there. It's a good source of profit for criminals and worse.

In an ideal society it would not exist... Sadly there is no such thing.

I think this is false dichotomy. We have evidence that not legalizing it, does not stop it, either.
