Put There By The People

Right. But he still isn't forced to. I just said it would be a terrible faux pas, which it is, but he's not doing anything illegal on paper.
Here's why this lie matters.
There are very good reasons for presidential candidates to release that information. That's why they have done so for decades. It is not a legal requirement though.
One of Trump's first campaign promises was "I will release my tax returns before the election." This mattered more from him than most other candidates because he had no other public record to base an informed opinion on. His vaunted business acumen could be supported by financial transparencies or maybe not. But instead of backing up his claim to be a successful businessman he repeatedly lied. He kept giving bogus reasons for failing to keep his promise. And he never did keep the promise he made.
So when people describe him as the "tells it like it is candidate", they are obviously deluded. But he has nothing else to offer as credentials for his installation into office.
He lost the popular election, he lied about everything from his taxes to his religion, and he has bitterly divided the country(including his own party the Republican).

I consider it the duty of patriots to obstruct and satirize everything he does.
I also agree that vandalism and violence are over reactions and should be totally prosecuted. I don't care how people feel about this election, it's their behavior that is criminal.

I understand that many U.S. citizens are angered by Trump's win, but I am having trouble understanding this over-reaction (which it is, in my opinion). Why?

Well, because he was elected. According to how the U.S. electoral system works, he was put there the same way as any other President.

However, within living memory, my country has had two unelected Prime Ministers: the current one, Theresa May, and Gordon Brown (who succeeded Tony Blair). No-one put these two people there; the subjects didn't vote them in. Also, our PMs can hold office slightly longer than the U.S. President.

To make matters worse this current unelected leader is in-charge of Brexit, one of the most monumental moves in modern British history, and no-one put her there.

And we are not running riot in the streets.

Different attitudes I guess.

Well I was ready to join a 'men's march' decrying Hillary if she won! :)

But mainly- I'd say it's because Trump openly rejected the media as the ultimate power to bow to, Giuliani tried that and was buried by them, but Trump figured out how to win without their approval.

Good point thought- between Brown and May- not a lot of Democracy going on, and we both have un-elected supreme courts to make any big decisions us people aren't 'capable' of making!

Obama said it best. “He’s an unconventional candidate. I don’t think there’s anybody who’s run a campaign like his successfully in modern history. Because he didn’t have the support of many of the establishment in his own party, because he ran an improvisation campaign.”

Well, he won so now he can stop with the unconventional ways.

I just hope all this Twitter use doesn't become a trend for presidents.
