Putin's fate as a world player?

What makes you think that Obama has any say whether Russia can or can not keep their naval base in Syria?

Ok :) , Lets just say that the US has some pull in international politics and that everybody in the international community wants the chemical weapons gone and they do not care if Russia has a base there or not. Along with, if Putin can swing it, he is a hero.

US has pull in international politics? Me thinks that has diminished considerably in the past few years.
Putin hero? Nah, just a willy old KGB operative that saw an opening to embarrass the US and Obama again.

The lowest point in recent decades with how the world viewed us was under the "W" administration. Polls still show Obama being generally favorable amongst most, but certainly not all.

Unfortunately either the article publisher did not format the poll results so that it made any sense or my web browser can't format it correctly. In addition what you posted is what the US thinks not what the world thinks. Do you not think there is a difference between what Americans see and how the rest of the world views the US in terms of being able to influence other countries?

Oops! Thanks for the correction as the article shifted from foreign to domestic, and I didn't catch the change.

So, let me put it this way, and that is the polls I've seen internationally have Obama being more popular overall elsewhere than here, although it varies a lot from country to country. Yes, he has slipped, and much of this has been due to the drone strikes and now his threat to attack Syria.

As for myself, I have long felt he has vastly overused the drone strikes, plus I opposed the surge in Afghanistan and have long felt we needed to get out. I opposed getting into Iraq, believing it to be a big mistake, and even though I supported having some airstrikes against al-Queda targets in Afghanistan, I could not support sending troops there under Bush or leaving them there under Obama. The concept that we could go into either of these countries and create some sort of Jeffersonian democracy was terribly wrong-headed.

Anyhow, thanks for the correction and have a nice weekend.

It could be, and also something that I am not going to disagree about.
