I read in below article the following, which if true, is a big relieve to me. But is this true? I saw that the link in the quote did not work anymore. Bummer.

How long do cold and flu viruses stay contagious on public surfaces?

Yes, the skin is a good barrier to many viruses and bacteria. But any cut or abrasion can lead to an infection. Also, if you touch a mucous membrane (eyes, mouth, nose, genitals), that can lead to infection.

So don't be complacent about this one: touching your face without washing the hands previously can be a source of infection.
