Even atheists would have to be neutral in politics. .
Surely atheists would naturaly be neutral.
No laws should pander to a particular religion. It's doubtful atheists would vote that way.

I have no problem if a political leader adheres to whatever religion he or she chooses, so long as that does not affect his/her performance as a politician.

Why do think that Atheists would always be neutral in politics? Atheists don't believe in God but surely they believe in other things. Is it you assumption that Religion-bad and Atheism-good? or Atheism-bad and religion-good? Nothing is that cut and dry.
So no, I don't think an atheist would automatically be neutral.
