It happened to me a few years ago, when i felt my bed shaking slightly, near my foot, as if someone getting on my bed, followed by sleep paralysis and a heavy force on my chest.

All you need is love.
Both of my experiences with sleep paralysis were similar to what Greg described, especially the heavy force on my chest.

Although not a ghost hunter, I actually tend to gravitate towards skepticism regarding ghost stories (even though I try to keep an open mind), but you may find this interesting:

I did see a "shadow person" right next to my bed a couple of times when I had the light switched off.

One night when I was in bed with the lights out, I saw dark (darker than the darkness in the rest of my room) spots swirling above me, turning into tentacle-like shapes that eventually grew so big and wide they joined the other pieces of darkness, forming a dome or cocoon around me as it were.
It startled me a little at first, but as soon I started thinking about God, I felt safe and peaceful.
Sometimes at other nights, I felt some kind of pressure on my legs or feet, assuming it was one of my cats joining me (which is usually the case), but sometimes it seems to be nothing when I look.

One time my cat was sleeping in the chair, and then freaked out and bolted because it appeared someone or something invisible kicked the chair.
The cats also sometimes stare intensely at spots that make little to no sense to me.
