That doesn't answer my question though.
Hypothetical situation. Let's say the Canadian version of Hitler is elected and starts executing LGBT and non-whites.
What will Canadians do then?
Without arms to remove said Hitler. There is few choices.
1. Die
2. Flee the country, welcome to the U.S!
3. Support Hitler eh?
The question is why would they elect a Hitler to begin with? I don't really see any cultural and sociological parallels between present day Canada and 1930's Germany.
The German people were bamboozled. Due to WW1 the economy was crap, people was starving. Hitler promised to fix all this, it was only later he started being genocidal maniac we all know today.
If you want to continue dodging the question that fine. Because we know what the answer is. That is the reason why the 2nd amendment is important to some of us in the U.S.

The answer is that if we had a dictator take over, he would likely be far right and most 'gun nut' types would probably be fawning fanboys rather than part of any resistance. But let's say that we somehow ended up with a tyrannical government that they were actually willing to take up armed rebellion against, a bunch of shotgun totting rednecks isn't going to stand a chance against a well armed, trained, and coordinated military force.
Do you truly believe that when the time comes you will be able to overthrow the USA president ? Really ? And the most powerful army in the world will just let that happen ?
You think your military will go against its citizens on command of a tyrant?
What makes you think the soldiers in the military will turn on their own families?
Then why would you need guns to deal with a dictator then?
Then couldn't the military/police dispose of the despot if they're not loyal to him? Why do you need Cletus and his grandpappy's lever action rifle on the case?Because some of the military will support the tyrant. But the vast majority won't. Guns help insure the tyrant stays at bay to begin with, along with added protection from foreign Invaders.
Yes
Not only will the military will it only allow it to happen, but they will help the citizens to overthrow the tyrant.

If the military is opposed to the dictator you won't need armed civilians in the first place. If it is not opposed to the dictator though, there is no chance you will succeed.
I don't.
I have myself to protect my own family just as Cletus protects his own family.
Again, if the military and police aren't loyal to the dictator, what do you need protection from? Is he sending out his small handful of minions to attack random households for no discernible reason?Sure we will. Who is gonna protect us until the military can coordinate a plan?
So the dictator would personally go to your house?
Because some of the military will support the tyrant.
It's also worth noting that the 'gun nut' types helped to elect two of the worst presidents in history, who've wiped their *** on the constitution and sought to restrict many rights and freedoms.
Note the word "could" in that headline? Always a bit of a read flag that an article will be hyperbolic alarmist nonsense. The question has occurred to me.
Canadians Could Face Hate Crimes Over Using The Wrong Gender Pronouns
Using the wrong gender pronoun is now a crime in Canada? The US Constitution protects the right to free speech, although the courts have placed practical limits on that, like the classic shouting fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire. The US Constitution also protects the right to keep and near arms, although the court have placed practical limits on that, like limiting the availability of machine guns.
