Question for the God Bashers

There are those that take that disbelief to another level and attack everything they think they see about God.

There are a few folks on RF who love to beat up on folks who believe in God. They do not have the support of the general public on RF. I have even seen the "Godless" Atheists and Agnostics at times take sides with Christians against their own Godless minions.

Most often it is the things people say that create a dog pile with them at the bottom. Some examples are:

-Homophobic comments tend to get people riled up. We have even had people try to defend the hanging of Gays. I have seen no such outrage said against Christians. I have never seen a post calling for the death of Christians. This should put things in perspective.

-Creationism seems to be another hot button topic.

-Driving the Jews into the Sea will get many peoples panties in a bunch.

-Just quoting the bible with out some rational "real world argument" will also not convince any right minded secularist.

Also to say its just God believers vs the godless is just to simplistic. It is not uncommon to see Atheist libertarians taking sides with conservative Christians vs the liberal Atheists on many Issues.

I tend to go easy on peoples beliefs unless they discriminatory in some way. Misrepresentations of religious history also bugs me.
I would say that even though I believe in God some of the people I agree with most are Atheists on the Rf. I just don't believe it is so cut and dry.

I "think" the real question is if you believe there is nothing after you die, what do you do to keep yourself uplifted or not to just plain don't care about anything and act accordingly.

Live in the here and now, and focus on the important things in life, like famiily, friends etc.

personally I can't be sure what's going to happen to me after I die. why should I waste time worrying about it now?
I used to always worry, and I found that when I stopped worrying and relaxed a bit I became a more pleasant person to be around, and felt loads happier.

Reading that big pink type was like diving into a vat of cotton candy, but it was worth it.

What do you do to satisfy your spiritual needs?
I have been critical of various beliefs in God, I suppose that might make me a "God basher". I satisfy my spiritual needs through science, art and literature, friends and family, and by trying to be a good person. And, let's not forget, good ol' fashioned fun and humor. :D My spirit has silly needs sometimes.

For example, I find inspiration when I read Shakespeare or Frederick Douglass. The inspiration I find is eloquent and brilliant, as opposed to the vague meanings that must be reconstructed from the confused gibberish of most Scriptures, prophesies, oracles, etc.

I don't have spiritual needs. My existence is but a microscopic blip in the universe, and trying to figure out what it all means wont do me a bit of good in the end. The world is what it is, whether I know what it is or not.

I knew what you meant right away, just letting you know... I understand you call them that because there's Atheists who don't want to have to listen to Christians rambling on about how they hope those Atheists will eventually find God and there's also Christians who don't wanna have to listen to Atheists rambling on about how there is no God. I personally don't have a problem with people who believe in God, I'm actually close friends with some who do, I just have a problem with those really aggressive people who try to change the way an Atheist thinks and so that's why I would never be one of those "GOd bashers". I wouldn't do to others what I don't want to have to deal with either.

And to answer your question - I can't even think of any spiritual needs that I need to satisfy. Though I have come to this forum to find out whether I truly am an actual Atheist because I've had doubts lately.

That's what I was asking myself. I think saying you have no spiritual needs kind of proves that you're not religious. Right?

What do you do to satisfy your spiritual needs?
Weeping
And i think this is the most special, effective, lovely & speedy part of meditation/devotion.
And the more intresting thing is, that it is naturel too.. :)

Like the child who is crying for something and doesn't get that thing because of his/her own benifit reasons -- and after some time sits quietly.

Similarly after weeping for sometime man sits quietly.
One gets or not, but this satisfy spiritual needs, and this is one of the most special and naturel part of meditation/devotion in love. :)

How can you cry if you aren't upset about something?
You are right how can one cry if one is not upset about something ? :)
That's why it is being said that everything which happens is in the hands of God, or i will of god...

Or we can say that this type of true love is bestowed by god himself.

Anyhow... i have smething for you ..:)
Once there was the first day of one baby boy in the playway school, the baby was brave enough, he never cried, But after sometime when this baby looked after his fellow classmates all of them was crying for their parents,
But the baby didn't knew why all them was crying, And finally after some time he also started doing the same thing and finally after some days all this was the part of his habit.

Similarly.. One can company this type of group to become upset for God, but to get the true group is also in the hands of god.
Anyhow if the thirst for god is real, one can easily judge that this group is crying for money, health, prideness or GOD. :)

I don't really understand your post? Are you saying crying is good? I never found it a pleasant or positive activity.

Crying can be comforting, sometimes it helps to let it all out, trust me. That's the only way I can see it being positive.

What do you do to satisfy your spiritual needs?

I have never spoken to God, so I am not a God basher, I don't think.

I have spoken to a few God followers and expressed my disbelief at their beliefs, does that make me a God basher?

If that is a God basher then I guess that also makes me a fairy basher, ghost basher, poultergheist basher, medium basher, miracle basher, magic basher, troll basher, Goblin basher, Fire breathing Dragon basher, Unicorn basher and Mermaid basher.

Back to the spiritual needs bit. Needs of the spirit?

hmmm sorry, I am a spirit basher too :p
