On this Jehovah's witness website it says this about the human soul:

“SOUL” AS USED IN THE BIBLE
First, consider the soul. You may remember that the Bible was originally written mainly in Hebrew and Greek. When writing about the soul, the Bible writers used the Hebrew word neʹphesh or the Greek word psy·kheʹ. These two words occur well over 800 times in the Scriptures, and the New World Translation renders them “soul,” either in the main text or in footnotes. When you examine the way “soul” or “souls” is used in the Bible, it becomes evident that this word basically refers to (1) people, (2) animals, or (3) the life that a person or an animal has.

But what about this bible verse about the soul?:

Psalms 89:48

Sorry.I read it again.And it sounds like the life someone has before dyeing.So that would be number 3 of your interpretation of the soul.Sorry.

Looks like you answered your own question. As far as what Jehovah's Witnesses believe, it is in the Bible. They don't interpret scripture. They just apply what it says. For example when it says:

"So then Yahweh God formed man [of the] dust of the ground, and breathed in his nostrils the breath of life—and man became a living soul."-Genesis 2:7 (Rotherham) they believe what it says. They don't interpret it. It says that the man became a living soul. A living human being. "A living person."

God's word is infallible and is trustworthy and reliable. Do you believe the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning? Yes, of course you do. Why? Because you have proof that it will, and it has a reliable record of doing so in the past. It is a fact. So it really isn't just a belief is it? You know it will rise in the east tomorrow morning.

What type of person who knows something as an irrefutable fact would say something along the lines of, "according to my understanding...the sun will rise tomorrow morning," or "I believe the sun might rise in the east tomorrow morning." What type of person talks that way?
