The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel is an evangelical Pentecostal Christian denomination. Commonly referred to as the Foursquare Church, as of 2000, it had a membership of over 5,000,000, with almost 30,000 churches in 123 countries. This included 1,844 churches with 218,981 members in the United States, the country where the church was founded. Headquarters are in Los Angeles, California.
LOL It has been a while since I thought of that game.Maybe it is a church where they worship the game "four square." Remember it? We used to play it at recess.
It is some sort of pentecostal Church. Speaking in tongues and all that. I think.
Now, now, main stream Pentecostals are no longer Holy Rollers. Speaking in tongues has kind of fallen out of fashion.
I don't know about that. As some of you know, I am looking for a Church home. Some friends took me to a pentecostal Church a couple of weeks ago, and the people there were praying in tongues, among other things. It just wasn't my cup of tea, though.
LOL that is evil!Yeah, it still happens but the Pentecostal leadership is trying to keep it low key so they don't scare noobs off. There is a huge difference in the Pentecostal Church of today and that of 50 years ago. My grandfather told tales of them coming to town and setting up tents. They would lay down hay so that when people fell to the ground and began speaking in tongues they wouldn't hurt themselves. He said one year he and some friends collected a bunch of yellow jackets and turned them loose in the hay. They waited and sometime during all the thrashing and wailing a change seemed to come of the tone of the wails. Suddenly all kinds of people came running out of the tent stripping off their clothes. He thought it was pretty funny, even 60 years later.
