I would get a staff member to move this to Islam DIR. That way, Muslims might be more inclined to answer your questions.

there is no relation between the partnership and the names . as you name Jesus (pbuh) Lord, or Christ , or Savior , or son of God ...etc

why does the koran say in sura 5:51 (O believers, do not take the Jews and the Christians as your friends and protectors, they are friends of each other. And whoever makes them a friend then he is from amongst them. Verily God does not guide the unjust people) this is not the best message for a book that is all about peace?
This when a Muslim become alliance with non-muslims against his brothers Muslims (as you called it cheaters) , I advise to all who want to explications of Quran to refer to tafseer book (the explination books of the Quran) because each verse have a reason, and story. (and non-muslims pick up the verses then paste lol )

why does the koran have no direct mention of love for man kind and only human-like description of God's love to mankind?

God mention directly of love to those who believe in him , but who (disbelievers) deny him, how God would love them ?? !!!!

  • what do muslims belive if they dont belive jesus died on the cross for our sins?
  • We believe that God saved Jesus (pbuh) , and you believe that He did not saved lol , this is why i always asked the christians what is the greater sin , the sin of killing Jesus (pbuh) or the sin of Adam (PBUH) ?
  • -most the Christians avoid to answer this question because the answer is very clear, THE SIN OF KILLING JESUS is awful than the sin of Adam (that Jesus die for )

if you misunderstand any thing I am at your help .

1.God names aren't different names but they complete each others. To explain God is strong so God can take revenge of the weak poor people from the strong cruel ones, but at the same time God's wise and merciful, which means that God deosn't use His power to destroy the whole world or to ruin the world's beauty, and because of his mercy God sends messages to those who don't act properly before punishing them in a cruel way as they did, and why does God do so? because he's kind and beautiful, so God loves beauty and hates it's destruction. In addition, God loves those whom he created and hates that they feel pain by anybody. So why did God create pain? because life in this world was created to see whether people would be good or bad, kind or cruel, loves God or not, and this wouldn't happen without little pain. But who'd suffer a little God promises them with great pleasure after death.

so,these names are actually differnt charachters of the same one. To make it more clear, if I say I'm strong, beautiful and wise, this doesn't mean that strong is a person and beautiful is another one, but it means that I have many great charachters that makes me a great man.

2.The phrase you mentioned here points to the Jews ans christians who are fighting the muslims, hate them and want to destroy their community. This is because the jews in Medina hated muslims and showed great infidelity and some of those who said they were muslims but actually hated islam inside themselves tried to defend them.

on the contrary,

7. It may be that Allah will grant love (and friendship) between you and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For Allah has power (over all things); And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

8. Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

9. Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

surah 60

these words were mentioned in quran for those who didn't fight the muslims and tried to kill them even if they were worshipping statues ,(whom islam considered them worse that jews and christians)

this happenned when a girl asked if she can care for her mother that refused to consider islam as her religion.

In addition, God said that muslims would be happy by the victory of the romans against the persians because the romans were christians and believed in God.

So, I advice you to read the whole quran before you take a decision and to read also explanations for quran and why each phrase was descend.

3. didn't understand the question.
4. Muslims believe that God protected his great beloved prophet and raised him up in heaven.
If some body told you that a father had 10 children, all of them were cruel and didn't like their father, and only one of them liked his father and was ready to do anything to please him. Do you believe that the father decided to slaughter his great beloved child to erase the sins of the cruel children?!! why didn't he forgive them and everything would be over?
I think people like dthis explanation because it allowed them to kill, destroy, steal and do everything bad and they don't have to worry because their sins are erased.

I think if you tell this story to a child he would consider you insane.

5.the word islam means leaving all ytour matter to God and obeying Gog in everything

and you can understand the meaning in any language

Greetings!

Just a quick reminder that there's at least one religion around that recognizes BOTH Christianity and Islam as legitimate, God-sent religions as well as reconciling the apparent contradictions between the two Faiths!

And indeed, I've seen folks of two other Faiths both join this Faith together and have a very happy, long-lasting marriage thereafter! :)

Peace,

Bruce

hello all im a 28 year old man from the uk born and raised Christian but my girlfriend is a beautiful muslim girl so ove rthe past year i have been studying the koran and the bible and i do have a few questions i dont nop if there is any muslims that could answer these questions

1) why do muslims not believe in Trinity but will have 99 names for allah? is that not partnership?

Hello,

The trinity is a different concept first of all and a Christian dogma perse according to Christian theology that every Christian has to believe in. According to the Christian theology there is not a 4-in-1 concept, 2-in-1 or 99-in-1 but it is specified and limited to the three in the trinity, and they are all three one in God and seperately God in essence as well. Especially this last part is very different when compared to Islamic 99 names. In Christian theology it is believed that the three, Father, Son of God and the Holy Spirit, are inter-connected and all One God. A Christian might pray to the Son of God believing he is praying to God himself and His essence, whereas in the Islamic concept of the "99 names of God" the distinction is clear. Any name is a sifaat of Allah/"description" or Attribute of Him. The '99 names of God', specified to 99 are not literally mentioned anywhere in the Quran as such '99'. To be even more specific, there are more then 99 names that can be found within for example the Sunni tradition.
In the Quran there is not one reference to the number of 99, there is however a general reference to "asma Allah al-Husna"/the most "beautiful" names (of God). Many of the Attributes of God are mentioned everywhere throughout the Quran and according to Islamic theology God revealed Himself and His Attributes ("names") through the Quran to mankind. Though we can not comprehend His essence and with our imperfect and limited state are "veiled" from that, we can reflect on His attributes, comprehend them and know Him through His "names", as mentioned in Islamic tradition. This is the ultimate goal of mankind in this life to worship and know God. But its "merely" His attribute that show us a part of His "characteristic" but not anything like all characteristics directly being "God" in the way Christians believe in the trinity and that Son of God or the Holy Spirit is God as well. The idea of the '99 names' goes back to an authentic saying from Muhammed but has never been explained by scholars - classical and contemporarily - to limit or specifiy His attributes to these 99 only. There are more and the saying has been explained as pointing to the relevancy of knowing and understanding His names, which should lead to knowing God and trying to lead a life of piety. It became a tradition the '99' and there's nothing wrong with that as long as a Muslim knows that Allah, or God, is not limited to these 99 only.

why does the koran say in sura 5:51 (O believers, do not take the Jews and the Christians as your friends and protectors, they are friends of each other. And whoever makes them a friend then he is from amongst them. Verily God does not guide the unjust people) this is not the best message for a book that is all about peace?

If you read up to verse 59 in this Surah it will clarify some more about the reasons why. If we take a look at another verse about "taking someone as a protector" we read the following which is related to the issue in the verse you quoted, and why:

Allah forbids you not with regard to those who fight you not for your faith, nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them.
For Allah loves those who are just. Allah only forbids you with regard to [1]those who fight you for your faith, and [2]drive you out of your homes and [3] support others in driving you out, from turning to them for
protection (or taking them as wali). Those who seek their protection they are indeed wrong- doers. ( 60:8-9)

This is related to war times where communities depend on tribalism and where the Muslims were just one Islamic community in war with polytheists and some jewish tribes. Some of them had a treaty with the Muslims in Medina that they would live together in peace, each had their own right and freedom of worship but if any of the Meccans attacked one community of Medina they would help each other. Unfortunately some jewish tribes betrayed the treaty, and sought secretly contact with the Meccans to assist them in attacking the Muslims (whom they had a treaty with). As a result of the Battle of Uhud the Muslims lost and some of the Muslims were considering to keep the other parties close just in case "the Muslims lost" and with the idea that "we will be spared then and at their side". This is why in this verse "awliyaa" is used in Arabic which is more connected with "protectors" and it makes clear not to rely on them as protectors because they are not ready to spare you as long as your a Muslim. As other verses clarify mentions:

They will spare nothing to ruin you; they yearn for what makes you suffer. Hatred has been expressed by their mouths, but what their hearts conceal is still greater. Thus have We made clear to you the revelations (or signs), if you possess understanding. Ah! You love them, but they do not love you…(3:118-119)

O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as protectors,- offering them love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path. If they were to get the better of you, they would behave to you as enemies, and stretch forth their hands and their tongues against you for evil: and they desire that ye should reject the Truth. (60:1-2)

The verse you quoted is specific by the way according to scholars because the norm is to be just, have good relations and deal with people with kindness. As other verses in the Quran make clear.

why does the koran have no direct mention of love for man kind and only human-like description of God's love to mankind?

Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth,
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,
Lord of the Throne of Glory...
(85:13-14-15)

Loving is one of His attributes; Al-Wadud. Another aspect of that love in action is His mercy. Allah says about His mercy the following:

..My mercy embraceth all things.. (7:156)

Reading the Quran God mentions constantly His mercy towards mankind in this life in all kinds.. "for the people with reason", etc. From the altering day and night, to the winds, water, able to grow up, experience love between spouses etc.

[*]what do muslims belive if they dont belive jesus died on the cross for our sins?

Assuming your Anglican and probably leaning towards Protestant tradition I will try to explain the difference in short.

As a protestant you belief that mankind is intrinsically doomed to sin and nothing can overcome that, which means we would not be able to be with God in the afterlife. And that's where Jesus comes in according to Protestants and he should be accepted as saviour to overcome this sin. It was, according to Protestants, out of God's love that He sacrificed "His Son" (which is God as well) for the love of mankind and all of them to be saved.

For us Muslims there is nothing such as blood, or a person, that should be shed to overcome sin. As well as the fact that every person is responsible for his/her own deeds and born without sin, like a white leaflet. Any human being will sin in this life but for that there is only one remedy and that is to repent to God directly and sincerely and try to stop yourself from sinning again. Not one human being - perse finite because in Islam no one creature can be equal to the Creator or "God and human at the same time" - is accepted as 'saviour' to overcome any sin or gap. God forgives and we should turn to Him and repent to Him directly and only.

Another important point is that Jesus was not god according to Islam and never said he was. He was a prophet and messenger and human being above all. In Islam, like Judaism, believing that God would "take form into Jesus and walk on earth" is totally unacceptable because God is above such thinking and limiting Him to His creation. The case of Jesus in the Quran is compared to Adam, both born without a genetical father and as a miracle of God showing His Glory and Majesty. Jesus is therefore always called: I'sa ibn Maryam, or "Jesus son of Maria", to refute any idea of him being "son of God".

Do you mean reading the Quran or when Muslims perform their/our 5 times a day ritual prayer? As for reading the Quran you can pickup any translation and read it for yourself. Of course a translation is still a translation and if you would have any questions it is wise to try and go back to the root words (in Arabic) and explanations. Nevertheless there are many books written in English about the Quran and for examples explaining verses, which is useful to read about the context and understand more what its about. Any Muslim eager to learn more about His God and his religion would normally try get deeper in Arabic reading and understanding to try and understand the Quran without any translation. When this happens you actually realize the difference in meaning between the Quran and a translation. Nevertheless it does not mean that translations are worthless, they are very useful to understand the general message of the Quran.

many thanks to anyone who can help me with these questions.

regards

Cheers.

You keep reminding us , thank you very much for your effort.

I would also like to add that although God doesn't love some people, he does care for them. He sends guidance to everyone, not just Muslims.
