This isn't just an arranged marriage retreat for the Quiverfull Christian dominion movement, it's for child brides and husbands under 20 to be arranged by parents to marry and begin beggetting immediately.

I've blogged before about this particular community that is more notorious for popularizing events such as "Purity Balls" where girls are to keep their virginity safe in the hands of their fathers - complete with wedding dresses for the daughters and fathers on blended knee.

This event, however, caused such an outrage that the Salvation Army called full stop on it when they got the details of what parents organizers there were doing.

I'm inclined to think they all should be arrested for child endangerment. It's atrocious when a religious group claims persecution when they don't have the "freedom" to get kids producing Christian babies for their future Army for God.

It's ran by a guy named "Vaughn Ohlman". Jesus christ that is the most stereotypical movie badguy name I've seen since a Herr Ratzinger made it to the big-hat.

Kinda sad that they weren't allowed to hold their little kool-aid party, though. At the very least, and purely hypothetically, when the adults had their big meeting, some enterprising & selfless soul could've tried to bring the roof down on them or otherwise fixed this problem.

How delightfully disgusting. Bunch of freaking pedophiles, those children should be taken into social services or something. How utterly horrendous to treat children that way.

Regarding the Salvation Army's response: it's a pleasant and unexpected surprise that a religious organization refusing service to someone based on their beliefs would actually do good for a change.

Edit: and I agree: child endangerment charges - or worse - would be a good idea. Pimping out one's 14-year-old daughter is heinous, even when it's done in the name of Jesus.

Wait, aren't they doing this to their girls and boys? Why the focus on the girls? Surely "pimping out" one's 14-year-son to someone's daughter is just as heinous right?
Why is it "child brides and husbands" and not "child brides and child husbands"?

The "bride price" transaction goes the wrong way for what they're doing to be considered "pimping out" the boys, but yes, I'm concerned about them, too.

However, my impression is that in the kind of relationships they try to set up, the boy tends to be older than the girl. In an arranged marriage between a 17- or 18-year-old boy with a 13- or 14-year-old girl, I have pity for both, but more worry for the younger girl.

It is indeed horrendous, but how do you see pedophilia?

I was under the impression that the marriages were made for children. But you're correct upon further reading that impression was wrong. Mea culpa.
No worries.
With so many loop evil facets to some cultish groups, it can be a lot of work to keep track.
