One of our friends here wrote something like below:
For Torah; I leave it for the Jews and the Christians to comment.
As for Quran I would like to say:
Please mention just one specific rule that one thinks is the most appropriate for ones viewpoint that Qurans rules have become dysfunctional.
Then, one by one, quoting the text of the verse on the issue with some verses preceding and some following for the context, please prove your viewpoint.
It is a science and religion forum.
Everybody is welcome to do it.
The rules prescribed by the Torah and Quran may have been useful among the Bedouins and Hebrews of the time, but their lifestyles were very different from ours . Many of them are no longer functional. Some are outright dysfunctional.
Should we still abide by the norms of a culture long gone? Should we continue to follow rules when their purposes no longer apply, or have even become harmful?
Were the rules made to serve society, or vice versa?
