Dear Cordoba,

I'm interested in Islam. For example, I own 13 Qur'ans (inluding a couple of Arabic ones) in interpretations in some four other languages, and several other books on Islam and a couple of shelf metres of books on the Arabic language. If you want me to ignore a thread, the best way is to do like in this one: post a hundred quotes without making any comments of your own.

And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.

(11:114)

In The Qur'an, God tells us that the good deeds do away with the misdeeds.

On the Day of Judgement, God will judge us based on His Mercy first, but also based on the balance between our good deeds and bad deeds.

If the good deeds a believer exceed bad deeds, then he will be entitled to an eternal life in Paradise.

God is The Most Merciful, and He is The Most Just

And to Allah belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of that which you do. (11:123)

There is so much of this universe that we are unaware of, which means that in reality our knowledge is very limited, a drop in the ocean

Only The Creator knows all the seen and unseen aspects of this universe and what is beyond, and to Him we will one day return

What He wants from us in this life is to worship Him and rely upon him in following His guidance for a happy life here and in The Hereafter

[Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father, "O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me."

The story of Prophet Joseph (Yusuf) peace be upon him is the only story of God's prophets which is mentioned in The Qur'an all in one chapter

It is known in The Qur'an as (the best of stories) and starts with the above quote when Joseph was very young and this dream which he totld to his father, Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him)

And thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of narratives and complete His favor upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He completed it upon your fathers before, Abraham and Isaac. Indeed, your Lord is Knowing and Wise.

(12:6)

These words are addressed to Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) peace be upon him whom God taught the interpretations of dreams, and was later to save Egypt from famine by correctly understanding the dream of the king of Egypt

And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And it was not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is from the favor of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people are not grateful. (12:38)

Joseph is talking to two men who ask him for the interpretation of a dream they each had, inviting them to Monotheism

O eminent ones, explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions." (12:43)

This will be the start of a new phase for Prophet Joseph in Egypt, as he gives the correct interpretation of the king's dream

[Joseph] said, "You will plant for seven years consecutively; and what you harvest leave in its spikes, except a little from which you will eat.

Then will come after that seven difficult [years] which will consume what you saved for them, except a little from which you will store.

Then will come after that a year in which the people will be given rain and in which they will press [olives and grapes]."

(12:47-49)

Based on this interpretation of the king's dream, Prophet Joseph, peace be upon him, was put in-charge of implementing the 14 year plan which was to save Egypt from drought and famine

(12:108)

This verse is one of the conclusions of Chapter 12: Pure Monotheism and showing the way for those who are interested based on knowledge and insight

And those who are patient, seeking the countenance of their Lord, and establish prayer and spend from what We have provided for them secretly and publicly and prevent evil with good - those will have the good consequence of [this] home

(13:22)

Belief on its own is not enough. It has to lead a believer to do good in this world, and one of the best acts is to help others who are in need as that is a sign of mercy in the heart

Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it].
And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.

(13:26)

After hardships come times of ease. Allah extends His provision and restricts it according to His Divine Decree, and to teach us thankfulness and patience
