Racial Profiling and Arrest rates

Seen it before; I think it also depends what neighborhood the vandalism is going on in. Were it to take place in my neighborhood (majority black and Hispanic), nobody would have called the police once they realized it wasn't their car. White people are hilarious though...

Yes, I read somewhere that black/Latinos are more likely to get searched for drugs, even though statistically white people use more drugs.
But race doesn't matter only class:rolleyes:

Do you feel that racial profiling is a contributing factor to arrest rates in the United States? Why or why not?

If police stopped and searched white people for no reason the way they
stop and search black and brown people. There's no doubt in my mind
that there would be more white people with legal problems.

I would have to agree with this. Police shouldn't be stopping and searching anyone without reason.

Fourth Amendment to US Constitution:
Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

In my experience, they do stop us pale folk too.
I'm sure it's just not as often.
I urge people to vote against politicians who allow this violation of the Constitution.

I know cops stop white people too. When white people papers are right
though all they get is a ticket for a driving violation or a warning. Black and
brown people get stopped for no reson. It don't even have to be a driving
violation and even if are papers are right sometime we still get pulled out
the car for a search. Plus black & brown people get stopped and frisked
when they walking through their own neighborhoods too.

Heck yes. To explain the gap in statistics between arrests, incarcerations, and appeals rates between blacks and whites as something inherent comes from an assumption the blacks are inherently violent or more prone to violence. When that assumption enters into criminal profiling, SURPRISE! Racial profiling!

Well I look at it this way. Where do you find the most incidents of crime? That is where you will find the most arrest rates. And as far as the incarceration percentage. What group has the highest recidivism rate. When a person's "rap sheet" is long there is a tendency of a judge to award a longer confinement period. For data, not opinion, suggest these links

As far as the Stop, Question, and Search procedures you may be interested in the following:

I & friends have experienced the same abuse, but again...I'm sure it's not as often.
Some cops are big on sexual assaults, & some like to point guns. Oh, joy!

Yes, racial profiling definitely contributes to higher arrest rates among blacks and hispanics.

But considering that blacks and hispanics commit crimes in a disproportional percentage rate, I can understand why cops profile them.

I don't think it's right, but I do understand.
