This here sweet lil' ol' southern belle (born in Louisiana, eddy-cated in Georgia, and now living in Texas) was able to put her rudimentary southern reasoning skills together fairly quicky - to come to the probable conclusion that the mother highlighted in this rag of a publication hails from the UK.

Of course, I had to tuck my primodial tail under my fundamentalist-style long denim skirt in order to sit down at my computer, click on the link, and actually READ it.

As has been said before, the key words here are BI-POLAR and PSYCHOSES. I can almost guarantee that if she had been atheist, this tragedy would have still happened just like those poor children in spain smothered by their mother because she couldnt cope at the thought of them being taken away when her husband was arrested on paedophile charges!

That is still no excuse. While her lawyer may try to use such a claim to get her out off on a lesser sentence, using a mental illness as an excuse does make this excusable.

I was referring to the newspaper reporting style, as opposed to the crime. This paper has a reputation of sensationalising stories, so I was referring to to the style of reporting on the story rather than the story itself.
Regarding using a mental illness as an excuse, I'm still out on that one. I can't deny that mental illness can result in people doing what would be regarded as heinous things, but I feel that their condition should be taken into account.
