I'm LongGe, joined years and years ago but have been really on and off. Started up again fairly recently as work slowed down and I discovered that this website still works in China. Although I can give you all a tip - if you're sick of my opinions, and don't wanna see me again, just post tons of controversial china topics, talk about how much you love the Dalai Lama and hate certain leaders in china, refer to Taiwan as a country and tibet as a kingdom and that should do it. I'll be gone...until I get home, activate my VPN and get right back on here! hahahaha.

I' m 26, from the UK, living in Beijing now. I'm a weird mixture of center left and center right...believe in welfare systems working alongside fiscal responsibility, haha. Topics of particular interest for me are politics, education and law.

And that's me

Hey everyone. Starry here.

I've been here long enough and have enough posts to reintroduce myself, so here goes.

Who are you and where are you from?

I'm Starry and I'm from the US. Georgia, to be more specific. I've been here for my entire life and I can't wait to get out and explore the world.

How old are you?

23

Are you male or female?

I'm currently listed as "gender-neutral", but, I'll be honest, I'm physically male and go by male pronouns. It seems kinda pointless to go by "neutral" just because I don't mentally or spiritually feel like a man or woman. I've felt like that for a while now.

Are you married or single?

Single and in no rush to get into another relationship.

Straight or gay?

Gay. Or, preferably, "queer".

Catholic, Wiccan, Jewish, Muslim or something else?

I'm a practitioner of Hinduism.

What makes you happy?

Reading, cuddling while watching Netflix, friends, and food.

What makes you sad?

My depressive days, social anxiety, human suffering, and injustice.

What are your pet peeves?

People talking obnoxiously loud in public. I can't stand it.

Do you have any hopes and dreams you'd like to share?

As cliche as it is, I just want to be happy. I want to make enough money to get by, pay my bills, and just be comfortable with what life will throw at me. Career wise, I want to work in education or in social work.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I love reading, cinema, playing video games, history, psychology, philosophy, sociology, and science.

What kind of work do you do?

I'm a full-time student and currently work in retail.

What's your favorite food?

I love Indian, Japanese, and Korean. Those are the absolute best.

Your favorite color?

Blue.

Your favorite time of year?

I love autumn and am growing an affinity for winter. I absolutely hate summer.

Do you have kids? Pets?

I don't have kids and I don't want any for the time being (if ever). I do have a dog and a cat, though.

You've been around forever, but we've all forgotten that 2-line blurb you wrote about yourself the day you joined RF. Your posts are insightful, touching, informative, uplifting and clever. Okay, once in a while they are puzzling and annoying! Sometimes they make us wonder what kind of a person is sitting at the keyboard.

We want to know more about you -- now that we sort of think we know you. If -- and only if -- you have met any of the following criteria, you are invited to re-introduce yourself on this thread:

1. Been a member for at least 8 months and have at least 2400 posts to your credit
2. Been a member for at least 10 months and have at least 2000 posts to your credit
3. Been a member for least 12 months and have at least 1200 posts to your credit.

Please refresh our memories. Who are you and where are you from? How old are you? Are you male or female? Are you married or single? Straight or gay? Catholic, Wiccan, Jewish, Muslim or something else?

Okay, a lot of that stuff is on your profile, but a lot of other stuff isn't. What makes you happy? What makes you sad? What are your pet peeves? Do you have any hopes and dreams you'd like to share? What are your hobbies and interests? What kind of work do you do? What are your favorite movies, books, places to visit? What's your favorite food, your favorite color, your favorite time of year? Do you have kids? Pets? You get my drift...

We want to make this a fun thread where we can all get to know one another better. We also want to make posting on it a goal some of the newbies can set for themselves. Would one of our illustrious admins care to make the first post?

First evidence of my arrival here is 6/25/2005 *gulp*

I have managed around 2600+ posts in that time. Hardly a regular, but close to an annoying ghost.

What makes you happy?

Free cognac :)

What makes you sad?

Homeless people.

What are your pet peeves?

People that vote against heir own self-interests. Folks that talk/text whist driving. Oh and...get off my lawn!

Do you have any hopes and dreams you'd like to share?

I hope stupidity and selfishness never win, and might be painful. I dream a lot about favored people no longer with us.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Reading, volunteering, not being ill. :)

What kind of work do you do?

Retired English educator. I promise, still trying though. :)

What are your favorite movies, books, places to visit?

The pain and suffering we inflict on each other and the rest of the world.

What are your pet peeves?

Clutter. Useless meetings.

Do you have any hopes and dreams you'd like to share?

I would love to someday live in a custom arts and crafts home in/near a college town. I'd like it to be close enough to bike to town, but far enough out to have some pretty property, woods and a little babbling brook.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Hiking, biking, camping, reading, gardening. I think I would like to get into home brewing. I'd also like to learn more about doing my own home renovations and repair (if I ever have time).

What kind of work do you do?

I am a research biologist, specifically I work in molecular genetics and cell biology. My first career (and Ph.D.) was in plant genetics, but I now do research in Type 1 diabetes.

What are your favorite movies, books, places to visit?

I love musicals and action movies. Recently the books I've been reading are science fiction and fantasy, I also love apocalyptic stories (think, The Stand). I love to visit upstate NY, national parks and natural attractions. I would love to try to visit every national park in the US before I die.

Room colors to relax in: green and chocolate brown

Favorite time of year?

Hi, RF, I'm Scott. Pleased to meet you again.

I'm 31. I live in Glasgow, Scotland (that's the UK for those who don't know). I live with my partner, Danielle, who is the finest human being and perhaps the best all-round collection of atoms in the known universe.

I've been posting here for a while. I joined this forum with the intention of arguing with creationists and right wing fundie Christian types. I was that stupid. Infact, I was a massive bull****ter for most of my adult life. I gave so much time to presenting a particular view of myself - trying to convince people that I am clever, or righteous, or talented, or interesting. I don't think I ever fooled anyone other than myself.

I've been an atheist for a long time now. I'd say I get more religious as time passes but I've never really felt any defined religious perspective is right for me. Here are some of my convictions:

I need to be a better person.

I think kindness is almost always the right thing in any situation.

I think love is the most wonderful thing that a conscious being can experience.

I know we are capable of beautiful and horrific things as a species and as individuals. In the end I think it will be our shame that saves us.

I know this is maybe a wee bit heavy for what should be a fun thread but I've been doing a lot of coming clean, owning up and opening up lately. I think I had to do that here also. I am not really afraid of being myself anymore and I rarely worry about being judged or evaluated these days. I hope that leads to more fun and interesting conversations for both of us.

Catch yeez.

Hi!!

I am new. My name is Saint_of_Me.

This video is where I got my username and Avatar, as it pretty much sums up my Theological beliefs--and NON-Beliefs. As well as my feelings about God. (A silly superstition.)
I am a Recovering Catholic. I have been a Satanist for about three years.

I love rock and roll. I am mastered in the Art of Seduction.

And Manipulation.

Pleased to meet you.

Hope you guess my name.

I am a physical therapist, I live in the Western USA. I am also a veteran. A combat veteran.

I did three tours in Iraq. Also Fallujah and Tikrit.

I need any of you young hot females who want to be taken to new heights to send me some pics. We'll go from there.

I hang around the Religion forums a lot---looking for Christians to bash and argue with and try to Enlighten. Really to help them. I was once lost like them.

Thanks!
