Feathers, I think I need to borrow your metal helmet bowl...

I've got a fake tree...and I'm from Washingon.

No worries! I've got plenty of collanders handy!

If we have a tree, I prefer a fake one. (For the reasons Maize mentioned.) Getting out the instructions and putting it together with my sister is a family tradition of sorts!

ive always enjoyed the freshness a pine tree brings to our home at christmas, it just seems fresher than any air freshner can achieve, and i love winter anyway, so to have christmas on a fresh-smelling winter morning is the highlight of my year

although i can see the environmental benefits of a plastic tree, im sure there are ways of getting rid of an actual pine tree that are still environmentally friendly - i may have to google that one :D

There were quite a few people in Katzpur's thread who mentioned having fake trees. I was horrified! But let's get a more accurate idea of how many people have such trees. Vote in my poll now! :149:
If I lived in Washington, I'm sure I'd have a real tree. They're so much nicer than fake ones. But until you've lived in Utah, you can't imagine what a hassle it is to keep a tree alive for any longer than about a week. During all the years we had a real tree (probably at least 25 of the 35 Christmases my husband and I have been together), I bet at least 20 of them were dry and brittle by Christmas morning. It's just SOOOO dry here. We finally just gave up and bought a fake one.

If I get a tree eventually it will be artificial. I think they are safer, can be much more beautiful, cleaner, and more economical. Keep it in good condition and you can pass it on to your kids. We always had an artificial tree when I was growing up. It was tradition to put it up together and then drag out all the decorations and decorate it together. Besides...why go out and cut down a perfectly healthy happy tree in its home and drag it selfishly into your home? What did the tree ever do to you? ;)

There is another option for those who insist on putting trees in there living rooms.

BUY A POTTED TREE and plant it in the back yard when you are done with it.

You know, a tree that is alive and well, not a slaughtered one.:biglaugh:

I don't have a tree. Years ago I had a tree. But after the last couple of presidential elections, I decided to just go with the flow, and I got myself a shrub instead.

Is someone going to explain why Christians put up Christmas trees in the first place ?
There is no explaination, it is simply shear madness.

I don't buy into the whole "tree in the living room" thing at all.

Find the tallest weed in my yard/garden -- currently an unkempt-looking character on the East side ~35 cm high -- and bedeck it with tinsel and small household objects on paper clips.....

Fake tree because I can just fold it up and put it away in a box. It is more economical because the fake tree can last for years. The real tree only lasts for days.

I love my fake tree because it is white with fiber optic lights. I then add other colors to it. My family loves it and my daughter doesn't dissaprove either.
