Reasonable Doubt

Exactly!

We all need to be careful about what we believe "beyond a reasonable doubt" and what we put our "faith" in. But we also need to be aware that some (no one presently posting on this thread) will argue the reasonableness of something in order to undermine the faith of others.

Sabio
Deut's:- "You have the right to have faith in whatever unreasonable nonsense you choose. Such right does not render its unreasonableness off limits."

- Has validity - there is no way to PROVE that our belief is right, to one who can only accept
something he can disect, have absolute proof in. (I think, anyway; if I am wrong, no doubt Deut will put me right).:D

One reason for misunderstanding is that different camps are starting from different axioms/major premises. If the initial assumptions of the disputants aren't made clear they'll argue at cross purposes till the cows come home.

And, BTW, I've seen photos of entirely white ravens and crows....

As far as I can see that will always be the Status Quo; the mindset of Faith has no common ground with the mindset of logic. I don't think I can say more than that.:)

I understand your point Sabio, but that only goes to show how few people are logical, I am afraid..............

I mean, if I understood the point about the ravens, it must be a pretty simple example, for me to understand it!:D
Actually Michel , it is " logic " that leads people to assume that they are correct . The excample of white Ravens reminds me of Swans . At one time , every known Swan in the World were white , so it was assumed that all Swans were white . Then Europeans went to Australia and found the Black Swan ... So Objectively speaking , all we ever can say is that " As far as I know .... "

BTW , mathematics is an astract concept and can never be proven without assumation . Numbers are nothing but symbols . So how does one " prove " a symbol ?
