Red Dwarf

I like Fawlty Towers, it is not bleak like Red Dwarf
I would say it is, absolutely. I can't really even think of a single British sitcom which isn't grounded in a thick layer of cynicism, and whose characters aren't - in some way - defined by their flaws.

To be fair to you, I think Red Dwarf does get better in the later series when the characters become a bit more rounded and the adventures becomes a bit more outlandish.

Oh my, did I say that!

Red Dwarf did vary as to quality but mostly it was quite funny (for me), such that I don't really understand the 'bleak' criticism. Besides the varied characters there were so many decent plots too, such that for Brits who are into Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, and Porridge, for example, I suspect Red Dwarf tends to be amongst them but perhaps not the best of them.
