The funny thing is that r/pics was where my ban occurred.
I haven't actually spent any time on that subreddit. Given what you've said here, I don't see that changing.

I might have to check that out as my unused keys (from Humble and Fanatic bundles and mystery games) to try amd swap for ones I'll use.The community and mods are pretty toxic.
I still keep an eye on the "free games on steam" subreddit, where they make note of occasional giveaways.
Most giveaways are garbage shovelware awarded for social media tasks, but there are occasional gems.I might have to check that out as my unused keys (from Humble and Fanatic bundles and mystery games) to try amd swap for ones I'll use.
It really depends on the subreddit. Reddits like r/196 and r/TheRightCantMeme and r/PoliticalHumor etc are full of them, then you have the opposite end of the spectrum with Reddits like r/TheLeftCantMeme and r/The_Donald tend to be full of extremist Rightists. You have neutral ones like r/WayoftheBern.So while I was banished from RF I decided to give Reddit a try. It didn't last long.
Someone had posted an innocuous picture of some small rural town holding a festival. Some noted the lack of diversity (most rural communities tend to be predominantly white), and claimed this meant that townsfolk were racists. I replied asking if they expected the townsfolk to kidnap minorities and force them to attend. This lead to users accusing me of defending racism. Another user stated that white people are weird. I pointed out that had they used any other race in place of "white", there would be outcry. This lead to me being banned, with "racism" being the reason cited.
I thought Reddit's reputation for being a hive of rabid SJWs was exaggerated. I was wrong.
That doesn't encourage me much, lol. Most giveaways are garbage shovelware awarded for social media tasks, but there are occasional gems.
Oof! Some of the filthy lefty YouTubers I watch cover such Neo Nazi Warhammer “fans.”I've said it elsewhere but I use Reddit a fair bit for my wargaming interests. I mainly browse but occasionally upload pictures of my work or talk about modelling techniques and game tactics. Never had an issue myself and the only time I've seen politics come up is in response to Neo-Nazis in wargaming.*
I also enjoy browsing the Rimworld subreddit along with the [naughty word for poo] Rimworld Says subreddit. Both can be pretty funny.
I avoid any subreddits focused on religion, politics or videogaming (other than Rimworld) since I find they're generally just awful. Reddit can be very friendly providing you stick with niche hobby interests. Venture outside those niches at your peril though.
*There's a certain kind of person who looks at the dystopian setting of Warhammer 40k and completely misses the satire. Games Workshop has actually put out a couple of statements in response to it, bluntly telling Neo-Nazis that they aren't welcome in the hobby.

I swear not realising or outright ignoring satire (and indeed political commentary in art) must be a prerequisite for Neo Nazis!
It still astounds me
Right?!!!Yep.
It's not even as if the satire in 40K is subtle. They deliberately made the setting so utterly nightmarish that it becomes outright black comedy.
I'm going to use that.Social justice warrior. "The difference between a SJW and an activist: An activist tries to get a ramp added to a building for easier wheelchair access. The SJW tries to get the stairs removed because they might offend people who can't use them."
lol, wow....I’ve even encountered folks on Reddit who express surprise at the band Rage Against the Machine “getting political all of a sudden.”
Most people appear to grab the keys just to pad their game count, which levels up their steam profile. My game count is almost 800, but vast majority of it is stuff I'll never install or play. Besides, this PC is ancient and my young son bricked my gaming laptop (my fault). That doesn't encourage me much, lol.
Right?!! Like guys, I think the clue was in their name lmao!!lol, wow....
I don't these gaming profile levels. I will admit I like the idea of achievements, then you have proof you did actually achieve some challenge in the game, but the achievements/trophies are rarely actually difficult to achieve and it goes to something that basically a contest of who sits and presses buttons the most often. Most people appear to grab the keys just to pad their game count, which levels up their steam profile. A lot of the shovelware instantly gives you literally hundreds of achievements just for booting the game. These days though I believe Valve delists games that do that.I don't these gaming profile levels. Their lyrics were always heavily political as well.Right?!! Like guys, I think the clue was in their name lmao!!
I swear some folks
LolTheir lyrics were always heavily political as well.
It reminds me of how a lot of conservatives became butthurt upon discovering that Willy Nelson is a liberal despite decades of supporting liberal causes and candidates.

Just got banned from a subreddit (r/entertainment)...yeah, I know. Should've learned my lesson from before...this time for "hate speech." My offending message?
"I too disagree with Rowling's take, but being melodramatic and hyperbolic doesn't really help."
