Oh hai again!
I'm trying to follow. It would seem to me if you are disabled, ( and I believe Jamaesi is telling the truth and should be receiving benefits) that you would have no income. Please explain how 130% or 400% would make any difference in Jamaesi case? Are you saying that people who make 4 times above the poverty level cannot afford to pay for ANY health services?
Remember now, I just asked a question, not made a statement OK?
That is a little unfair. From where I am sitting it seems the democrats are the ones who are trying to go it alone on health care. Of course they will have to change a law that they already changed once before to have 60 seats in the Senate.
Tell me again about who wants who not to touch the bill?
If I did the math right then I think 400% would help me. 400% of 14,000 (which is around what the poverty level for household of 2 is) is 56,000, right? I have dyscalculia so math isn't one of my strong points. But yeah, if I did get that right, then I would get assistance under the Dem's plan.
When I'm in tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt, I can't really afford to pay for medical treatment, nope. Well, I can afford to get some OTC meds, yeah. Right now I have about ten dollars to my name so I can get a bottle of naproxen and then we can just consider me cured.
Oh, I saw my doctor this morning, little follow-up from my hospital adventure. Oh, by the way, I haven't paid a dime yet for that hospital visit (and probably never will be able to!) so I hope all you taxpayers and those with health insurance enjoy absorbing the cost of that bill and all those bills before it I still haven't paid off. It's like a public option but everyone is getting screwed. I don't even want to think of the unpaid bill (that I just added to) I have at that doctor's office either.
Anyway, my doctor said that I am in such bad shape I can't even have PT (oh well, not like I can afford it) which would be just light stretches and moist heat therapy and being hooked up to some electrical stimulation machine. He said my only option as of this point would be to go to a pain clinic (which I can't afford) and I'm not sure exactly what they would want to do but I can't afford it anyway. Maybe order MRIs or other scans (can't afford that) or want me to have epidural steroid injections (which I can't afford and is JUNK SCIENCE, those injections do more harm than good unless they're anti-TNF agents being injected) or exercise when I still can't really stand or walk without collapsing in pain.
Oh, and, he wouldn't give any painkillers or anything because that would just "mask the pain." It's 3:30ish in the morning and I can't sleep because I am in so much pain and no matter how I lay it feels like my lower back and legs are on fire and there's awful muscle spasms in my upper back so it would be a real shame to "mask" all that. He decided I just needed a more positive attitude. You know, because maybe I'll just spontaneously die and won't be in pain anymore, that's the bright side.
I honestly am beginning to think I'm on some hidden camera show and they're going to pop out soon and go "SURPRISE YOU WIN A TRIP TO A COUNTRY WITH SOCIALIZED MEDICINE THEY WILL FIX YOU RIGHT UP!!!
" This can't possibly be how any first world country would treat people disabled people in horrible chronic pain?
I could get a second opinion but that takes money and at this point it's pointless because the fix will cost even more money.
From earlier posts, it's because her mother earns too much, but I should probably let her speak for herself.
4 X poverty level is still only about $40,000 a year. I'm sure seeing a doctor and getting a few tests would be no problem, but if you have serious health problems and have to pay out of pocket, that would disappear pretty quick.
To be honest, I haven't been following the latest news with the bill - I find it too depressing. I'm not very confident that it will pass, so I've kind of lost interest what's in it. I will just wait and see what you end up with, and hope it's more inclusive than what you have now. It would be nice to see
nobody uninsured, but maybe that's for the next battle. Or the one after. Or the one after that.
Yes, my mother makes too much. I don't think I'm counted as a dependent on her taxes though (but I have no idea), but I live with her and I have no income now and what she makes is above the poverty level for a 2 person household.
Yes, she laid all of these details out before us and now does not want people to comment. I would ask why her mother's income was a consideration, but all my comments have been taken in a really bad light. I just would love to fix her problem with the current system we have. You see, I am a fighter and don't take no for an answer.......
I would offer to say a prayer for her, but I doubt that would be appreciated either.
I guess I will just let this thread go. Agreed
What I objected to was people using me as an example in unrelated discussion. If you want to quote my post and talk about it, cool. If you want to use me as a talking point in some topic to some other person's reply that is not about me, then nope not cool with that. I can't remember all the details now but the poster who was doing that had not engaged with me to my knowledge but was using me as an example in posts. Not cool with that. This is my life, it's not some fodder for going "well with your plan genius WHAT ABOUT JAMAESI?!?!!?" The thread wasn't titled "Gee it sucks to be Jamaesi let's make a Venn Diagram of what it will be like for her under all these different health care options" or something like that.
Though if anyone wishes to do that thread then that's cool because I am a big fan of Venn Diagrams. And game theory. And pretty ponies.
I also don't care if people pray for me. Knock yourself out.
