Religions fun?

Do you find religious activities fun? If so, please describe some things that you find enjoyable. I recently tried doing a mantra/prayer for fun. It was almost addictive since it seemed to fit my mood perfectly.

Blót and sumbel, ritual toasts. Offer to the Gods, ancestors and spirits first, then get snockerd good and proper. :D

I've participated in a sumbel long ago, actually more than once, I think. One of the guys had a nice drinking horn too. I'll agree that was fun, would do it again if I knew folks that were into that sort of things.

I actually do consider religious activities fun. Not just mine, but in general.

For example, I still go to Masses and Divine Liturgies on occasion. Not because I necessarily believe in them, but because I find them to be aesthetically and spiritually beautiful. The same goes for Buddhist meditation and Friday synagogue services.

For my faith, I just adore South Indian style pujas, archanas, aarti, and abhishekam.

Very fun! I would kick this religion like a bad habit if it wasn't! There are far too many things to list!

But the biggest, perhaps, is the learning. Continuous exploration and expansion of knowledge is a big thing in my religious path, and being the massive nerd that I am, I find learning new things very fun. I compile much of what I learn and incorporate into my tradition in my Book of Shadows (a term I borrow from the Wiccan religion). I love writing, so the task of working on that book is lots of fun to me. It was especially fun to make a very nice post-screw book. It took me hours, but the final product looks like those old, beautiful grimoires you envision Witches having. :D

Then there are things like going on forays to the wild lands to get to know the various local nature spirits/gods better. That's right - while for some outdoor recreation is about exercise and fitness, for me it is communing with the gods and getting to know them. There's no substitute for first-hand experience (as much as I am a book wyrm)! There is lots of arts and crafts and storytelling. Not so long ago, I really got my altar/meditation room looking awesome with some painting and woodworking projects. I have some more paintings I want to do to hang in there.

If you do it properly and make it into a habit (like exercising), Chan meditation is actually quite enjoyable. It took me a while to believe that, but it's true. I even like doing prostrations. Anything done with a pure and concentrated mind will leave you feeling cleansed and refreshed.

Chanting is fun, harmonizing with a group of people and feeling like something bigger than yourself.

Some Christian rites are enjoyable for the spectacle and for the sense of love that can fill the room if the participants are genuine. But there's always the danger that they'll hit some doctrinal snag and ruin it.

Yes religion can be fun, until someone takes it seriously and makes it bad for all.
This was basically all of my experience of religion when growing up, it's taken me a while to realize that some people actually like religion and don't take it as just another duty.
