omg....was not expecting that

where is went the academe was foremost
Where I went, they claimed academia was foremost, but in actuality they were only concerned with teaching Biblical principles and how to obey the Bible. They literally taught the confusion of the languages at the tower of Babel was a real thing, and implied learning foriegn languages was against God's will. They also taught the Alexander the Great conquered the world to prepare it for the birth of Christ. They also had these comics that took place in a land where men were men and women were women and did nothing but housework and cooking, and were expected to be submissive to their husbands; racial segregation was also a part of this fictional world. As far as math goes, while my public school counterparts were learning pre-algebra (this was middle school), I was learning how to count money and long division. And, of course, Harry Potter taught real witchcraft and demon worship and Pokemon was just as evil for promoting evolution and for the title "master" being bestowed upon those who had gathered all the badges, beaten the last trials, and collected all the pokemon.
I did look at one study that showed that kids who had the same curriculum I did consistently scored lower on the SAT than public school students.

If it is US numbers, then it is indeed what I would expect.

In India, I assume far too many people simply lack the conditions to get much of an education. Wealth distribution problems there are quite severe, I hear.

As for Jews... Jewish culture is remarkably effective in providing internal encouragement and support. That alone would explain academic excellence IMO.
